DROP-IN EXERCISE CLASSES
The below classes are free of charge. Class descriptions are below.
Chair Exercise with Debbie Halley
Mondays from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.
Do you have some physical restrictions that make it difficult to exercise? Take this Chair Exercise class for some Chair Strength Training! Class starts with a warm-up including a seated joint warm-up. Debbie then guides you through a variety of seated and stationary standing exercises (using the chair for support if needed) that are designed to strengthen every muscle in your body. Suggested Equipment: Weights, bands and a small play ball will be used for a variety of exercises. This class meets at the Braverton St. location.
Weight Training with Debbie Halley
Mondays from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
Class starts with a 5-minute cardio warm-up and then progresses into exercises using bands, weights, a small bar and a chair for abdominal exercises. This class is primarily a standing class, but participants will be seated for abdominal exercises. The class will also focus on balance and coordination. Class ends with seated stretches. Equipment needed: bands, weights, small ball and a chair for abdominal exercises. This class meets at the Braverton St. location.
Chair Exercise with Joan Coker
Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Do you have some physical restrictions that make it difficult to exercise? Take this free chair exercise class for some chair strength training! Joan Coker leads this class, which starts with a warm-up, including a seated joint warm-up. She will then guide you through a variety of seated and stationary standing exercises (using the chair for support if needed) that are designed to strengthen every muscle in your body! This class will be hybrid. Joan leads the class from the Braverton St. location. Participants may take the class in person at the Braverton St. location or virtually via Zoom.

Intermediate Line Dancing with Marie Brault
Fridays from 12:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m.
If you have experience in line dancing and would like a challenge, this is the class for you! It is geared toward the intermediate level and includes new dances. You will dance a mixture of old and new line dances to various types of music, such as country, pop, swing, rock and roll, disco, rhythm and blues and jazz. New dances are taught step by step. This class meets at the Edgewater Library, with the exception of the following dates, which will be held at the center's Braverton Street location: 10/28, 11/4, 11/18.
VIRTUAL DROP-IN
EXERCISE CLASSES
Do you have some physical restrictions that make it difficult to exercise? Take these free chair exercise classes for some chair strength training! Debbie Halley leads the class on Wednesdays and Joan Coker leads the class on Fridays. Class starts with a warm-up then proceeds through a variety of seated and stationary standing exercises (using the chair for support if needed) that are designed to strengthen every muscle in your body! Instructors will use resistance bands, hand weights and a small rubber ball for some of the exercises. Instructors each have their own exercise routines, so the classes will be different.

Water Fitness
Anne Arundel County Rec & Parks
This water exercise program is designed to improve flexibility, mobility, and range of motion, and to boost stamina. Pool temperature is 82 ̊.

This is a drop-in program. A senior punch pass may be purchased for $55 for 15 visits. Individual drop in rates are $5 per class. Passes can be purchased onsite at either pool. Classes at Arundel Olympic Swim Center run Monday through Thursday at either 9 am or 10 am. Classes are 45 minutes long. For more information, please call the facility directly at 410-222-7933.The Arundel Olympic Swim Center is located at 2690 Riva Rd, Annapolis, MD.
Painting with Scott
FRiday, December 2 and 16 from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Join artist Scott Clarke in making these simple yet dynamic designs! These fun tutorials will help you improve your painting skills, not just with color mixing but with your painting medium. Scott will guide you through the techniques so you can render your own masterpieces, perfect for display. All supplies will be provided by the instructor. There is a $5 supply fee for all participants, payable at sign up.

Zentangle Workshop: Holiday Fun
Monday, December 5, 12 and 19
from 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Exercise your crafting creativity with these three fun holiday projects, using Zentangle patterns as the decorative element! During this three-session course we will be creating two 3D holiday-inspired pieces
of art, one will be guided and the other will be of your choosing, with tangling ideas provided. These can either be mounted and framed or placed on a special holiday card. The third project will be a folded
star gift card holder, suitable for all occasions.
There will be a small set of papers and cards available for pickup from the South County Senior Center (Braverton Street location) at no charge.

A van from Partners in Care will take participants to Trader Joe's in Annapolis. Get some holiday shopping done. Space on the van is limited, so register early! Sign up at the front desk by Thursday, December 1.


WALMART AND CHICK-FIL-A

from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
A van from Partners in Care will take participants to Walmart Supercenter in Severn, followed by a stop at Chick-fil-a for lunch. Participants are responsible for the cost of their meal. Space on the van is limited, so register early! Sign up at the front desk by Wednesday, December 7.
Holiday Party

Gnome Aprons Workshop
Tuesday, December 13 at 1:00 p.m.
Join Lynn Gauthier and Mellen McGowen as they instruct participants on how to make these fun and functional gnome aprons. Supplies will be provided. Participants may bring their own hot glue gun and scissors if they like as tools may be limited. Supply fee is $10. Sign up at the front desk.
MUSIC WITH RUSS

Russ Jones and his guitar will be here to play some old favorites from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Sing along or just sit back and enjoy the tunes. Special guest musicians may also join Russ for the fun and fellowship.
Maryland Access Point Outreach Visit

Bonnie Paucar, Certified Consumer Resource Specialist and Options Counselor with the Department of Aging & Disabilities MAP Program, will be here to speak with senior center participants who have questions or need connections to resources. MAP links seniors and their families to community resources and educates about available services provided by our department and the community. Drop by to meet Bonnie and ask her any questions you may have about programs and services in Anne Arundel County.

Cooking with Chef Pappy

Chef Pappy, Tom Campbell from Gibson Island Restaurant in Pasadena, is back by popular demand with his assistant Dorothy for a live cooking demonstration. Today's menu is a Holiday Mystery Menu. We don't know what Chef Pappy has in store, but we know it will be delicious! There is a $5 class fee due at sign up. Register at the front desk.

While her house undergoes repairs, fiercely independent senior Helen reluctantly moves into a nearby retirement community—just temporarily. Once at Pine Grove Senior Community, she encounters feisty widows, cutthroat bridge tournaments and a group of bullying "mean girls" that reminds her of high school and has her yearning to go home. But somewhere between flower arranging and water aerobics Helen discovers that it's never too late to make new friends and perhaps even find a new love. Popcorn and drinks will be served with the movie.
CENTER CLOSURE
Center is closed December 26-January 2 for the holidays. We will reopen on January 3.
