BREAKING GROUND

CJ SCHWAN'S


CJ Schwan's, also known as Schwan's Co., has started working on the 142-acre project located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, operating as an Asian food production facility.


As a result of this project, roughly 600 jobs will be created within the Sioux Falls area, with a projected capital expenditure of $750 million.


Governor Kristi Noem credits the state's low tax base, commitment to freedom, and work ethic for its attractiveness to CJ Schwan's.

NEW COMMISSIONER

JOE FIALA


On August 21, Governor Kristi Noem announced that Joe Fiala has been appointed Commissioner of the Governor's Office of Economic Development.


In 2007, Joe entered the field of economic development as the executive director of the local economic development office in Miller. In 2012, he joined GOED as a business development representative and has since served as a director in several areas including research, community development, business development, and partner relations. Throughout his time at GOED, Joe has worked with countless stakeholders on numerous projects totaling billions of dollars in capital investment which have created or retained thousands of good-paying jobs for South Dakotans.
