Everyone is welcome to nominate their favourites and businesses can also nominate themselves. Six of the categories including Sussex Food Producer, Drink Producer, Butcher, Food Shop, Farmers Market and Eating Experience, nominations will close on 8th June and a shortlist published for public vote in early July. Last year over 10,000 people voted for their foodie heroes.

All winners and runners up will go on to receive their awards in February 2017 at a BAFTA-style awards ceremony hosted by Sally Gunnell OBE and Danny Pike from BBC Sussex, including a spectacular seven-course Sussex produce banquet produced by Sodexo Prestige at the Amex Stadium. Thank you to our amazing sponsors - more details of who helps make this happen at...
Springs' Smoked Salmon rebrand wins global design award

Sussex-based artisan smokery Springs' Smoked Salmon is celebrating an outstanding award win for their new branding in the leading global design awards organised by D&AD, working with branding agency Distil Studio.

With the slogan ' Just skill, smoke & Sussex oak' and using charcoal from the smokery's brick kilns, Distil Studio drew a series of expressive marks and textures born from the very heart of the traditional smoking process used at Springs to make their delicious smoked salmon.

The team will receive their award in May.
T op chefs share their favourite South Downs recipes

Make the most of beautiful, seasonal asparagus with current 'South Downs Chef of the Month' Steven Edwards' recipe, which uses ingredients that can all be found in the South Downs region. From Tueday, May's Chef of the Month will be Michael Sutherland, the youngest ever Sussex Young Chef of the Year grand finalist in the Sussex Food and Drink Awards and head chef at the Sussex Ox, sharing a delicious Sussex lamb dish with seasonal vegetables.
