Preservation Month 2022 is a celebration of them and everyone doing the great work of saving places, in hopes that it will inspire and empower others to do the same.

The construction for a new roundabout at the intersection of State Road 572 (Drane Field Road) and Don Emerson Drive started May 1, 2022. The single lane roundabout is being constructed to accommodate the traffic demand at this intersection which serves as the primary access to the Lakeland Regional Airport and the Publix Super Markets corporate offices. The completed project will also include drainage, lighting, and landscape improvements.

Intersection Closure due to Sewer Repair
On May 2nd, the Wastewater Collection Division closed the intersection of West Lime Street and South Missouri Avenue in order to repair a broken sewer main that has become offset over time. Sean Russ, Engineer Technician II said, “The old, vitrified clay sewer main is almost 100 years old, so we can probably chalk this one up to old age. The new repair will be a standard pipe coupling using a section of new PVC to replace the old broken section.
