Gilles’ 3rd Gen Barbershop – A Family Legacy
Gilles’ 3rd Gen Barbershop has been part of South Glengarry for over 60 years. The legacy began in 1962 with Fernand Bourgon and continued in 1967 with his son Gilles. Since 1997, Chris has proudly carried on the family tradition of quality service and community connection -while raising his two daughters alongside his wife, Julie, in South Glengarry.
This fall, the shop is expanding with a second workstation and plans to welcome a new barber by Christmas 2026, enhancing their top-quality barbershop services for years to come.
Chris looks forward to serving residents with the same warmth and dedication that has defined the barbershop for generations.

The Cornwall SDG Business Enterprise Centre has opened applications for the Spring 2026 Starter Company Plus Program — a hands-on opportunity for entrepreneurs to gain the skills, mentors, and tools needed to move their business forward.
This program helps participants build a strong foundation through training in business planning, market research and analysis, financial forecasting, and pitch development. Entrepreneurs work closely with experienced mentors, and upon completion, top participants may qualify for a grant component.

Funding Announced to Support Local Farmers and Agribusinesses
The federal and Ontario governments announced investments up to $20 million through the Market Diversification and Trade Resiliency Initiative to help farmers, food processors, and agribusinesses expand sales of Ontario-grown products domestically and internationally.
This funding will support projects that:
- Plan and prepare for market development and diversification
- Develop new products and marketing strategies for expanded markets
- Purchase equipment and technology to support product diversification and export readiness
The initiative prioritizes projects targeting non-U.S. export markets, while also supporting expansion into the U.S. market.
Applications open February 17, 2026, with funding available to cover a portion of approved project costs.

Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF)
The Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF) supports projects and investments that drive economic growth across eastern Ontario, assisting existing businesses, municipalities, and not-for-profit organizations.
Through the Business Stream, companies can access funding to expand operations, innovate, enter new markets, and create jobs.
Who is eligible?
- Located in or relocating to Eastern Ontario
- At least 5 employees and 3+ years of operation
- Minimum investment of $200,000 (rural Ontario)
How much funding is available?
- Loans: Up to 15% of eligible costs up to $5M, interest-free for up to 4 years; up to 30% may be forgiven if targets are met.
- Grants: Up to 15%, capped at $500K–$1.5M (in limited cases)

Regional Incentive Tariff Initiative
The $1-billion RTRI helps businesses overcome trade disruptions and includes support for businesses across all sectors, including in the steel and automotive industries. It invests in targeted, time-sensitive activities that boost productivity, lower costs, strengthen supply chain resilience, and open doors to new markets, enhancing overall competitiveness.
Who is eligible?
Businesses in southern Ontario that are incorporated and have at least 5 full-time employees.
How much funding is available?
- $125,000 to $10 million in repayable funding; or
- $125,000 to $1 million in non-repayable funding

Rural Ontario Development Program (ROD) Guidelines
This cost-share program is designed to stimulate rural business growth, including projects that:
- Address barriers to economic development
- Build capacity to attract, retain, and expand businesses
- Better position rural businesses to attract or retain investment
- Support jobs being attracted and retained in rural businesses
Who is eligible?
