Mayor's Corner: Thoughtful Improvements

You may have heard the term “continuous improvement” or the concept of an “improvement mindset.” As your mayor, alongside the City Council, we embrace this philosophy in guiding South Jordan’s development. Our future isn’t merely to grow, but to flourish. This means enhancing every facet of our city, from its infrastructure to the introduction of new amenities, ensuring that South Jordan continues to stand out as a model city.

Take Shorter Showers

With colder temperatures, it's time to focus on water savings indoors. Toilets are a leading cause of indoor leaks. Check flappers on every bowl and toilet valves for running water. If you have an inefficient toilet, take advantage of South Jordan's toilet/fixture rebates.

Expected Lane Closures

Beginning Saturday, March 2, at 11 p.m., drivers can expect lane closures at the Bangerter Highway and 9800 South intersection, lasting through Sunday, March 3. These lane closures will allow crews to drive piles in the middle of the intersection as part of the upcoming utility relocations, which are an important step in constructing the new interchange.

This work will be done in two phases, each requiring a full weekend of lane closures. The second phase is anticipated to take place beginning Saturday, March 9. Due to night noise restrictions, pile driving operations will only be conducted during the day.

Please note that each phase will have different lane closures and traffic shifts. Be sure to look at both detour maps and plan ahead for travel delays.
