Big Time Pianos is an all-request, interactive dueling piano show. We're a trio, two piano players and a drummer. All of us sing. We encourage the audience to request a wide variety of popular music from the past 60 years consisting of dance-pop, modern and classic rock, modern and classic country, blues, hip-hop and rap. We offer a party band vibe, which means we play mostly upbeat, fun, recognizable dance music. We also offer DJ service recorded music before the show starts and after the show when we play private events and also provide emcee service when we play weddings. No extra charge for that. The piano show is usually 2 or 2.5 hours in duration for private events and 3 hours long when we play bars and wineries. Price rates are negotiable depending on several factors. We like to get the audience involved in our show, so we have tambourines and a cowbell available for anyone that wants to play those instruments. It's always good to have a need for "more cowbell!" We also offer audience participation games such as a tambourine contest or a Name that Tune game and we give away prizes. We're available for local and out of town events. for more information; www.facebook.com/BIGTIMEPIANOSHOW

Helping South KC students get Real World experiences in the workplace is a significant focus for our area school districts.
We are excited to welcome the newest member of our staff, our student intern Kaleah Smith. She is a junior at Center High School and participates in the Business Innovation Program at the Herndon Career Center. It is part of the Southland CAPS program sponsored by a consortium of area districts.
Kaleah will be helping us with communication and marketing campaigns while she is here through mid-May. She will also be helping plan our Women's Leadership Breakfast which will be focusing on women entrepreneurs this year.
If you have questions for Kaleah, you can reach her directly by email to intern@southkcchamber.com.

Leadership South KC officially kicked off last week with a powerful first session focused on personal growth, connection, and self-awareness.
The cohort began their year-long leadership journey with an engaging presentation on Emotional Intelligence with Chamber board member Jodi Fincher, CEO of St. Joseph Medical Center, followed by a Mindfulness session led by Victor Dougherty and Pam Hausner with Insight Meditation Center.
Participants also took part in relationship-building activities, enjoyed lunch from Chamber member Southside Bar & Grille, and received an overview of the year ahead. This year’s cohort includes leaders representing Catholic Charities, Spire Energy, KC National Security Campus, St. Joseph Medical Center, Missouri Department of Transportation, Metropolitan Community College, and the South KC Chamber.
Together, they will build a leadership toolkit of knowledge, relationships, and skills to strengthen their organizations, community, and personal leadership impact.
The group reconvenes February 24 for Legislative Advocacy Day in Jefferson City, where they’ll meet with the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and area legislators — with a possible sweet stop at Central Dairy on the way home (IYKYK).

New tax laws for 2026 that you should know
The new year brings more than resolutions – it brings tax changes that could impact your wallet.
There's good news for retirement savers: You can put more into your IRA, 401(k) or other workplace plan this year compared to last year.
If you're a high earner age 50 or older, catch-up contributions must now be made into a Roth account – for tax-free income later.
Health savings accounts also allow more in annual contributions.
When it comes to education savings, the withdrawal rate for 529 plans has doubled. And the list of qualifying expenses includes more options than before.
Charitable giving shifts too: Standard filers can deduct up to $1,000 in cash gifts, while itemizers face new thresholds.
Tax changes can be complex. Work with a qualified financial advisor and tax professional to build strategies that make the most of new opportunities while minimizing your tax burden.
