New building for 717 South Clark
CMK Companies is expected to build a 29-story apartment building with 349 units on the parking lot north of Palmer Printing, which is winding down its operations-the last printer on Printers Row. The Palmer Printing building, built in 1938 for First National Bank operations, would be incorporated into the project. The project is just under the thresholds that would require review as a Planned Development, and can proceed as soon as financing and building permits are in place.

Intersection improvements
for Polk & Dearborn
Ald. King's office reports that construction is expected to begin this week on the intersection of Polk & Dearborn, culminating in resurfacing of the entire intersection. Presumably this project includes the installation of concrete curbs protecting a two-way cycleway on Polk from Dearborn to Plymouth, and to protect the bikeway on Dearborn.
