Insider Tips about Printers Row?
The Grid , a new Chicago Sun-Times series about Chicago neighborhoods, is looking next at Printers Row, and is seeking insider tips and favorite things about the neighborhood. Here's an example from their Logan Square story on what they're looking to highlight . They've set up a form to collect responses:

As reported at the CAPS meeting, Aldermen King and Dowell report they have worked with the Chicago Park District to:
  • Install additional lighting in Printers Row Park some time in June.
  • Install lights and security camera in the pedestrian underpass at Plymouth and Roosevelt some time this summer.
  • Install lights and security camera in Dearborn Park (behind Dearborn Station) "soon."
  • Close the Skate Park in the south end of Grant Park nightly at 9 pm (due to neighborhood noise complaints)
  • 4th Ward is planning a "town meeting" to discuss South Loop parking issues (date & location TBD)
Grant Park Advisory Council
The Chicago Park District convened an unusual meeting on June 19 to begin reorganization of the Grant Park Advisory Council. Former GPAC president Bob O'Neill has been suspended, and the council is under de facto control of the Park District. A July meeting will be held with Ald. King (4th) and Ald. Reilly (42nd), and GPAC elections are tentatively scheduled for October.

A group of South Loop residents known as Keep Grant Green is among those  working to form a new  GPAC and needs people to run for office and to serve on various committees.  Contact Julia Packard (  or Elaine Soble (  to discuss your interests or have any questions or comments you may have.
