DEVELOPMENT

South Loop Elementary
Construction on South Loop Elementary is well under way. Photograph is progress as of November 18, 2018.

No Amazon HQ2 in South Loop
Chicago didn't win the bid for Amazon's headquarters 2, but Related Midwest's "The 78" still plans to proceed with their development.

The 78
A development plan for the 78, the large vacant area southwest of Clark and Roosevelt, was approved by Plan Commission last week. The filing primarily clears the way for infrastructure construction to begin, but also grants approval for up to 10,000 dwelling units on the parcel.

New TIF District
The city is creating a new TIF district that will pay for infrastructure improvements for The 78. The new TIF district will only cover the vacant land in The 78 and Cotton Tail Park, which is anticipated to be affected by construction of a new red line station at 15th and Clark. While the TIF anticipates a new red line station at 15th and Clark, the new station was not part of the plan development filing.
