January 2019
South Metro Fire Rescue takes over fire and emergency services in Highlands Ranch
A formal assumption of command ceremony held January 1 made it official. South Metro Fire Rescue is now servicing Highlands Ranch. The ceremony commemorated the passing of command from Littleton Fire Rescue's interim chief Jeff Tasker to South Metro Fire Rescue's Chief Bob Baker. Click here to view photos of the ceremony.

The unification will result in numerous benefits to Highlands Ranch including improved fire rescue response times, fire and emergency medical efficiencies, commercial and public property inspections and reduced costs in administration, training and equipment purchases.

Highlands Ranch Metro District Board Member Renee Anderson will serve on South Metro Fire Rescue Authority's Board of Directors representing interests of the Highlands Ranch community. The Metro District will have representation on the board until May 2020.
