SouthFair CDC Finalist for D Magazine Award
D CEO has named finalists in its fourth annual Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards, presented in partnership with the Communities Foundation of Texas and sponsored by Capital One. This year’s program attracted more than 500 nominations. After several judging sessions, a total of 112 finalists were named (81 nonprofit organizations and leaders and 31 corporate citizens).

All finalists will be recognized in a special feature in the August issue of D CEO, online, and at an exclusive awards event, where winners will be revealed.

SouthFair Community Development Center was named a finalist for the Capital One Impact Initiative Award.
June was National Homeownership Month. A time to celebrate homeowners, counselors, and programs!
If you want to become a homeowner, consider SouthFair's program which offers free counseling! Also know that there are special homebuying programs for professional HEROES. Those are our police, fire, teachers and other professionals that stay on the front line for us.
SouthFair's Inaugural Front Yard Competition
Community can be seen in many ways. This year, our community celebrated the aesthetic homeowners put a lot of work into! By coming together to acknowledge yards, kept by enthusiastic homeowners, we build the Fair Park neighborhood!
Congratulations to our winners:
Rodriguez Family - 1st place!
Norma Baker - 2nd place!
Shanay Wise - 3rd place!

A success! Our very first competition yielded positive results. Dallas Fire and Police came out to help judge the yards and Councilman Adam Bazaldua stopped by to show his support! The entire event went as planned. Check out the video above

We caught up with homeowner, Adjwoa Hogue, who participated in SouthFair's Inaugural Front Yard Competition. Read more on our conversation with Ms. Hogue...
The Rodriquez Family
SouthFair welcomed Carlos and Maria Rodriquez to Fair Park Estates in 2014. This enthusiastic couple was eager to find a home in South Dallas to accommodate their children that attended schools in the neighborhood and plus they had already been long time residents of South Dallas.

After coming in first place in our yard competition, The Rodriguez family shared with us just why they decided to enter. It comes down to this: they have always taken pride in keeping their yard and lot looking very neat, regardless of where they lived or the size of the yard. Echoing, Adjwoa Hogue, they say "If everyone works hard, this makes our neighborhood more inviting, safer, property values increases, and more homebuyers and businesses will want to come to this area." For Mrs. Rodriguez, she looks forward to seeing her adult sons work on becoming first-time homebuyers while they are young.

Here is a little more about Mrs. Rodriguez:
