Southern California Residential Habitat Kit Program

Get Involved! 2024 Pilot Season

Have you been trying to find more ways you can get involved in pollinator conservation? Well look no further! Xerces has expanded their habitat kit program to residents living in Southern California. Unlike the larger California Habitat Kits available for working and agricultural lands, the Residential Habitat Kits are reserved for yards, home gardens, school yards, and urban spaces.

Our pilot season has officially launched! Individuals living in and around South Los Angeles can participate and receive habitat kits this November 2024. (This includes cities like South Gate, Lynwood, Dominguez Hills, Compton, Garden, etc.). Visit our webpage to learn more and fill out a project proposal form to get started!

Please share with anyone you feel may be interested and eligible for the program!

What is in a habitat kit?

These kits are comprised of 18 individual plants! A total of 11 different species with varying bloom periods that provide food for our pollinators year round. Our plant list goes into more detail regarding species size, bloom time, and water needs.

Various plant seedlings in different shades of green arranged in rows.

Make a difference!

We will provide plants and resources free of charge. You just have to commit to planting the kit and caring for it. With that, you will contribute to creating habitat for our native pollinator species by introducing flowering plants into your garden.
