Workforce Education and Training Update

Student Success Highlights: Architecture, Construction and Engineering Students (ACES) Pathway Program

The Architecture, Construction and Engineering Students (ACES) Pathway Program, encourages high school students to explore careers, and provides students access to internships in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). The ACES Pathway Program offers hands-on experiences to increase student career skills and marketability — all before high school graduation.

Along with overall program success in 2022, we're excited to share the program's

positive impact directly from the participating students below.

With the ACES Program, students could participate in virtual software program training to earn related certifications. The software, SolidWorks, offers solid

modeling computer-aided design and engineering used in a wide range of industries, including mechanical engineering, transportation infrastructure design, construction, automobile design, manufacturing, and biotechnology.

This allows students to earn industry certifications in mechanical design, sustainability, and simulation/finite element analysis in SolidWorks through the ACES Pathway Program.

As result, participants like Kuval Bora (featured above) had their hard work and ACES Pathway Program achievements recognized with a LINXS Scholarship. Kuval is now completing higher education at the University of California: Davis, with a major in Aerospace Science and Engineering. We are so proud of all of our ACES students!

Public Agency Update

The survey results are in! Agencies love being part of SoCalREN's Public Agency Programs!

The SoCalREN Public Agency Programs strive to provide top-tier service to all agencies in our network. We recently wrapped up our Annual Satisfaction Survey, asking our enrolled agency partners what they think about our services and suggestions on how we can improve.

SoCalREN Public Agency Programs achieved a satisfaction score of 89% this year, well over industry benchmarks closer to 70%. We’re proud to say that nine out of ten enrolled agencies would recommend SoCalREN to others!

“SoCalREN staff are always organized, helpful, and understanding of the challenges public agencies face,” said our City of Goleta Energy Champion. “The programs have helped us identify our weak spots and focus our team’s attention where it’s needed most.”

So what does being a part of the SoCalREN network mean to other enrolled agencies? Read this and more in the full recap on the SoCalREN blog!

Residential Update

SoCalREN Kits for Kids Program

SoCalREN’s Kits for Kids Program, an innovative initiative that educates Southern California students, teachers, and families about the importance of energy efficiency. The program provides easy-to-install, no-cost items like LED bulbs to help parents and guardians save at home. Plus, participating classrooms can earn a one-thousand-dollar incentive for their efforts.

The 2022 Kits for Kids program has driven meaningful impact across the region. Hear what that success looks like in the classroom from Marci Jefferson, an educator with Mammoth Elementary School below.

Kits for Kids provides great benefits to students, teachers, and families by informing them about the importance of energy efficiency. Interested in learning more, or know of a school or classroom that could benefit? Visit our Kits for Kids blog post here, or visit socalren.org/kitsforkids.
