It came as a surprise to Mottrom Drive resident Beau Fitzpatrick that he lives on a street named for a Confederate soldier. “Really? I always assumed it was named for an apple, or apple juice,” he said, referring to the Mott's brand of apple products.
In fact the street in McLean, Virginia, not far from the nation's capital, is named for Mottrom Dulany Ball, a captain in the Fairfax cavalry who was among the first Confederate officers taken prisoner in the WBTS. He became a Republican after the war and later a founding father of Alaska.
Mottrom Drive is among scores of streets identified last year by a Fairfax County commission tasked with ferreting out forgotten names of the Confederacy. Northern Virginia, which saw some of the biggest battles of The War and for decades was an indisputable part of the South, is now one of the wealthiest regions in the country and has been swifter than other spots in the South to rid itself of Confederate names and memorials that dominated the region.
Mottrom Drive resident Beau Fitzpatrick said he doesn't see a need to rename Mottrom Drive. He said, "I understand the rationale for changing major highways named for prominent Confederate figures, but don't see the point in erasing an already forgotten figure from a rarely traveled side street."
IN THE PEACH STATE
A group of thugs defaced the mural of a memorabilia shop in downtown Kennesaw. Vandalizing a brick wall atop the Wildman’s Civil War Surplus store with what the alleged culprits described as “antifa Smurfs” that resemble the blue cartoon characters.
Indecline, which calls itself an “activist art collective,” was founded in 2001. The group issued a press release to local media Sunday taking credit for the graffiti. They called it “a large-scale art installation.” According to the press release, which was issued anonymously from thisisindecline.com, artists from the group spent about six months visiting the Kennesaw shop, posing as Civil War enthusiasts. They gained the trust of Dent “Wildman” Myers, the 90-year-old owner who opened the shop in 1971.
According to Indecline, Myers gave the group the okay to redesign the pre-existing brick mural, which featured paintings of two Confederate soldiers armed with muskets surrounding the store’s logo.
Indecline released a 23-sceond video that showed Myers telling someone who asked about the mural, “It’s okay, you can do anything you want to do. I’m glad to have you.” The artist, whose voice was electronically altered in the clip, quipped, “Don’t say we can do anything... We’ll put a bunch of antifa Smurfs up there.”

Myers was reached at his store Monday but declined to comment on the incident over the phone.
Kennesaw police say they are "investigating the incident," which occurred Saturday night.
Myers has described his store as a museum and said it was opened to preserve history.
Last June, dozens of Kennesaw State University students protested outside the storefront and pressed for its shutdown.
IN THE SUNSHINE STATE
There was a spirited 3.5 hour meeting Tuesday of the Putnum County Board of County Commissioners debating an ordinance that would protect Confederate and other monuments within the County.
At the urging of Commissioner Paul Adamczyk, the Commission directed County Attorney Rich Komando to expand the reach of the ordinance before representing it at a second meeting to be held later this month.
IN THE TAR HEEL STATE
The Confederate statue “Fame” that had stood in a median at the corner of W. Innes and Church streets in Salisbury for more than 100 years before being moved into storage last July, has just been replaced in a new location in the Old Lutheran Cemetery on N. Lee Street.
In the new location, the statue is surrounded by a fence and will be monitored by security cameras.

The Mexican government argues that the companies know that their practices contribute to the trafficking of guns to Mexico and facilitate it. Mexico wants compensation for the havoc the guns have wrought in its country.
Forget that the police, who are owned by the cartels, carry the same guns. It’s guns. Sure thing.
If the current administration or some pagan, collectivist judge gets her way. This lawsuit will set a precedent that will be the beginning of the bankrupting of the private arms industry.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has mandated inoculations for a range of indoor venues requiring proof of Covid vaccinations from employees and customers of indoor eateries, gyms and entertainment centers.
The order goes into effect Aug. 16, with full enforcement beginning Sept. 13.
De Blasio said the mandate, known as the Key to NYC Pass, would encourage increased immunizations to combat the spread of the delta coronavirus variant.

All of this came to head when Gov. Cuomo announced his resignation. In doing so, he still insisted that he "had not crossed the line" but that "the line had been moved."
In response to the announcement, Kathy Hochul, New York’s governor-in-waiting, said the following: “I think it’s very clear that the governor and I have not been close.” Is she denying impropriety with Cuomo? Are more accusations to come?

I was at the capital on the steps on January 6th.
On the back side of the capital where I was the police attacked the protestors violently several times with steel fencing, night sticks, and pepper spray before the patriots finally counter-attacked and drove the police off all the outside decks and into 1 hallway entrance where the patriots continued to battle the police for entrance all day.
The pigs continually fired tear gas canisters way out into the peaceful crowd hitting old ladies etc. which made the young men patriots(mostly white but Asians were well represented as well) ANGRIER AND ANGRIER.
Twice the pigs even managed to tear gas themselves in which both cases they immediately fled their positions which the patriots NEVER DID EVEN ONCE no matter how much tear gas they were eating.
There was a black pig dragged out of the hallway and put down on the ground but then everyone was saying not to hurt him and nobody did.
He was stood up and shame walked through the crowd and was released.
Interestingly enough, not a single pig left the hallway to help him or to try and rescue him. Lol.

For libertarians – and even many non-libertarians – it’s not shocking to discover that a US Administration lies and deceives the electorate. For government on all levels, lying to the American people is as American as apple pie. Sometimes the liars are held to account for their deception, but most often they are not.
Watching these early months of the Biden Administration it’s hard not to think that lying, deceiving, and manipulation is rising to a whole new level.
Take “ending the endless war” in Afghanistan. President Biden was cheered for achieving what even Donald Trump could not deliver: an end to the pointless 20 year – and several trillion dollar – war in Afghanistan. By the 20th anniversary of 9/11, we were told, the war would be over.
The only people furious about this decision were the bombmakers at Raytheon and the rest of the military-industrial complex and the laptop warriors in the Beltway think tanks. It turns out, they really didn’t need to worry.
The US is not finally leaving the Afghan people alone to run their country as they see fit. Just this week, Gen. Frank McKenzie, head of US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the US is increasing – not ending - its airstrikes on Afghanistan. The US would be pulling regular military troops out of the country (though likely keeping CIA, Special Forces, and mercenaries on the ground), but it would continue to bomb Afghanistan using “over the horizon” facilities from the Persian Gulf.
I’m sure that makes Afghan victims of US bombs feel much better.
Then last week Biden announced an “end of the US combat mission” in Iraq by the end of the year. While we’ve heard that line before, still it seemed like good news. However, as usual, the devil was in the details. While the “mission” was over, the US troops would remain in-country in an “advisory role.” This is despite the fact that the Iraqi Parliament formally requested last year that US troops leave the country.
Biden has bombed anti-ISIS militias supported by the Iraqi government twice this year (so far).
The 900 US troops illegally occupying Syrian territory would also remain in-country, the Biden Administration announced last week.
Also, just over a week ago President Biden told us that if we got the vaccine we would not get Covid. Then a few days later his own CDC released data from a Massachusetts study showing that 78 percent of the people who caught Covid were fully vaccinated. Is it any wonder Americans have lost all faith in “the science” as it pours forth from the politicized “scientists” in charge of US public health institutions?
The US mainstream media has morphed into a de-facto arm of the Biden Administration, however, covering up for all of these lies and word-games and holding precisely no one in government accountable. So much for a free media acting as a check on government power.
In fact, any “enemy” country overseas with such a subservient press would be targeted for a State Department color revolution.
Governments lie. We understand that. It is the nature of politics and power. In the absence of independent institutions to hold government accountable, however, such lies become indistinguishable from facts, and soon “freedom” itself becomes slavery, as Orwell wrote. Let’s hope more of America wakes up soon.

Sadly, we are approaching a time in America during which our elected public officials will assault the liberties we have hired them to protect. Whatever the cause, the government will soon blame its failures to contain a virus on a small portion of the population and then impose restrictions on the inalienable rights of all of us.
We cannot permit this to happen again.
During the WBTS, when President Abraham Lincoln thought it expedient to silence those in the northern states who challenged his wartime decisions by incarcerating them in military prisons, he was rebuked afterward by a unanimous Supreme Court. The essence of the rebuke was that no matter the state of difficulties — whether war or pestilence — the Constitution protects our natural rights, and its provisions are to be upheld when they pinch as well as when they comfort, in good times and in bad.
Whether COVID-19 is coming back or not, our central planners have panicked. We do not have a free market in the U.S. in the delivery of health care; rather, we have thousands of pages of statutes, regulations and controls at the federal, state and local levels.
Those controls were revealed as manifestly deficient the last time around. The feds were so protective of their control of health care — an area of governance that the Supreme Court has ruled is nowhere delegated to them in the Constitution and, but for their power to tax those who defy them, is nonexistent — that they insisted that only the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta could be trusted to test for the virus.
It took weeks of begging by governors and mayors and health care professionals for the feds to relent. Of course, once they acknowledged that labs throughout the country were as competent as theirs, they realized that their incompetence had deprived all physicians as well as most private sector and state government-owned labs of the test kits themselves.
We all know how central economic planning diminishes freedom, produces scarcity and adds to the cost of products. Now we know that central micromanagement of health care kills people.
But these mayors and governors were not to be outdone by the feds in their totalitarian impulses. Many of them issued decrees that are as profoundly unconstitutional as Lincoln’s efforts to silence dissent.
They ordered the closing of most businesses and nearly all retail establishments. They acted as if they, and not we, owned our faces. They shuttered religious institutions. It took a year for the courts to interfere partially with this madness.
The fulfillment of these totalitarian impulses put millions out of work, closed and destroyed thousands of businesses and impaired the fundamental rights of tens of millions — all in violation of numerous sections of the Constitution that the totalitarians swore to uphold.
And now they are threatening to do this again.
The Contracts Clause of the Constitution prohibits the states from interfering with lawful contracts, such as leases and employment agreements. The Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment prohibits the states from interfering with life, liberty or property without a trial at which the state must prove fault. The Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment requires just compensation when the state meaningfully interferes with an owner’s chosen lawful use of his property.
Taken together, these clauses reveal significant protections of private property in the Constitution. Add to this the threat of punishment that accompanied these decrees and the fact that they were executive decrees, not legislation, and one can see the paramount rejection of basic democratic and constitutional principles in the minds and words and deeds of those who have perpetrated them.
Add to all this the protection in the First Amendment of the rights to worship and associate, and elsewhere the judicially recognized right to travel, and it is clear that these nanny state rules were profoundly unconstitutional, indisputably unlawful and utterly unworthy of respect or compliance.
Why is this happening again?
Throughout history, free people have been willing to accept the devil’s bargain of trading liberty for safety when they are fearful. We supinely accept the shallow and hollow offers of government that somehow less liberty equals more safety. It doesn’t. This is the government’s dream — dominance without resistance.
This happened here with the Alien and Sedition Acts in the 1790s when the Federalists feared a second revolution and punished speech critical of them, during the Civil War when Lincoln feared dissent and Congress feared defeat and they locked up innocents, during World War I when President Woodrow Wilson punished the speech he hated and feared, and during the Great Depression when President Franklin D. Roosevelt feared economic calamity and seized property without compensation. And, after 9/11, fearing another attack, Congress secretly crafted the Patriot Act’s circumvention of the Fourth Amendment and authorized the creation of the total surveillance state.
Of course, just one year ago, we free people were all in “lockdown” — a word used to describe confining prisoners to their cells.
This sordid history came about when the public was fearful of the unknown and trustful of the government’s bargain. But the liberty that was sacrificed for the safety that was promised is being taken away again.
Liberty is natural and personal. You can sacrifice yours, but you cannot sacrifice mine. Thus, personal liberty — the Declaration of Independence calls our rights inalienable, and the Ninth Amendment reflects freedom’s nature as limitless — is insulated from totalitarian and even majoritarian interference.
Today, the fear of contagion again gives government cover for its assaults on freedom and poses a question the government does not want to answer: If liberty can be taken away in times of crisis, is it really liberty; or is it just a license, via a temporary government permission slip, subject to the whims of the politicians in power?
We cannot permit this to happen again.

A week ago, the MT Mercer Street, a Japanese-owned tanker managed by a U.K.-based company owned by Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer, sailing in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Oman, was struck by drones.
A British security guard and Romanian crew member were killed.
Britain and the U.S. immediately blamed Iran, and the Israelis began to beat the war drums.
Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said action against Iran should be taken “right now.”
Tuesday, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett warned Israel could “act alone.” “They can’t sit calmly in Tehran while igniting the entire Middle East — that’s over,” said Bennett. “We are working to enlist the whole world, but when the time comes, we know how to act alone.”
Wednesday, Gantz ratcheted it up, “Now is the time for deeds — words are not enough. … It is time for diplomatic, economic and even military deeds. Otherwise the attacks will continue.”
Thursday, Gantz went further: “Israel is ready to attack Iran, yes. … We are at a point where we need to take military action against Iran. The world needs to take action against Iran now.”
And what do the Americans say?
“We are confident that Iran conducted this attack,” said Secretary of State Antony Blinken. “We are working with our partners to consider our next steps and consulting with governments inside the region and beyond on an appropriate response, which will be forthcoming.”
Iran, however, has repeatedly denied that it ordered the attack.
What makes the attack puzzling is its timing, as it occurred just days before the inauguration of the newly elected president of Iran, the ultraconservative hardliner Ebrahim Raisi.
Query: Would Raisi have ordered a provocative attack on an Israeli-owned vessel, just days before taking office, when his highest priority is a lifting of the “maximum pressure” sanctions imposed on his country by former President Donald Trump? Why?
Would Raisi put at risk his principal diplomatic goal, just to get even with Israel for some earlier pinprick strike in the tit-for-tat war in which Iran and Israel have been engaged for years? Again, why?
If not Raisi, would the outgoing president, the moderate Hassan Rouhani, have ordered such an attack on his last hours in office and risk igniting a war with Israel and the U.S. that his country could not win?
Could the attack have been the work of rogue elements in the Iranian Republican Guard Corps? Gantz and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid claim that Saeed Ara Jani, head of the drones section of the IRGC, “is the man personally responsible for the terror attacks in the Gulf of Oman.”
Or was this simply a reflexive Iranian reprisal for Israeli attacks?
For years, Israel and Iran have been in a shadow war, with Iran backing Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthi rebels in Yemen, and the Shia militia in Syria and Iraq.
Israel has both initiated and responded to attacks with strikes on Iranian-backed militia in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, and by sabotaging Iran’s nuclear program and assassinating its nuclear scientists.
But whoever was behind the attack in the Gulf of Oman, and whatever the political motive, the U.S. was not the target, and the U.S. should not respond militarily to a drone strike that was not aimed at us.
No one has deputized us to police the Middle East, and we have not prospered these last two decades by having deputized ourselves.
With America leaving Afghanistan and U.S. troops in Iraq transiting out of any “combat” role, now is not the time to get us ensnared in a new war with Iran.
Lest we forget. It was in an August, 57 years ago, that the Tonkin Gulf incident occurred, which led America to plunge into an eight-year war in Vietnam.
President Joe Biden’s diplomatic goal with Iran, since taking office, has been the resurrection of the 2015 nuclear deal from which former President Donald Trump walked away. In return for Iran’s reacceptance of strict conditions on its nuclear program, the U.S. has offered a lifting of Trump’s sanctions.
Whoever launched the drone strike sought to ensure that no new U.S.-Iran deal is consummated, that U.S. sanctions remain in place, and that a U.S. war with Iran remain a possibility.
But, again, why would Tehran carry out such a drone attack and kill crewmen on an Israeli-owned vessel — then loudly deny it?
Since he took office, Biden has revealed his intent to extricate the U.S. from the “forever wars” of the Middle East and to pivot to the Far East and China. By this month’s end, all U.S. forces are to be out of Afghanistan, and the 2,500 U.S. troops still in Iraq are to be repurposed, no longer to be designated as combat troops.
Those behind this attack on the Israeli-owned vessel do not want to reduce the possibility of war between the United States and Iran.
They want to make it a reality. We ought not accommodate them.

Great stuff there. Not a lot of MEMEs. You know, MEMEs, you see them in your feed? Text-heavy photographs. MEMEs often feature random text on top of unrelated photos or gradient backgrounds.
At Dixie Heritage we were at first reluctant to adopt them. BUt as our content become more and more censored, especially on fACEBOOK, we found that the MEMEs were a great way to get our politically incorrect content past the "filters."
That is I believe the reason why Google, fACEBOOK, TWITTER, etc. hired hundreds of thousands of liberal college students. Not to give them gainful employment in trying times. Rather, to put actual eyeballs on each and every post. Because the "filters" could weed out what we were typing but were not so effective in deleting the MEMEs.
While we continue to struggle to get the good word out, our enemies who would erase us from the cultural narrative entirely seem to have bottomless pockets with which to buy their erasures.
