The Pride of Mississippi Marching Band performs classic Southern Miss music with a sneak peek at their 2022 season, special guests, and more!


August 26, 2022 - 7 pm.

William McMullen, oboe, and Nathan Koch, bassoon, present a recital of works for oboe and bassoon. Dr. McMullen and Dr. Koch are faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music.

In this lecture, Dr. Courts argues a reason for the notable verisimilitude of Northern Renaissance painting by viewing it as a means for members of the rising merchant class to demonstrate their position in courtly society through the recreation of their physical presence within the performative space of the royal court.

Southern Miss School of Music alum, Col. Bruce Pulver, is the new director of the Army Band, Pershing's Own. On hand for the change of command, was Pulver's wife, Southern Miss alumna Dianne, and his USM Band Director, Emeritus Faculty, Dr. Tom Fraschillo and his wife Cecilia. #usmmusic #SMTTT

After 36 years in education, three years as Director of the Mississippi Art Commission, and seven years as CEO of the Armory Arts Center, Southern Miss alumni, Dr. Tom Pearson,  has announced his upcoming retirement as of October 31, 2022. Dr. Pearson was responsible for bringing innovative programming to the Armory. This included developing the computer lab to teach digital photography, animation, and drone photography, adding 3-D printers to the ceramics and jewelry programs, establishing yearly Professional Development for the Palm Beach County School District, launching the BraveheArts program with the VA Medical Center, expanding the Art of the Phoenix program to include Teens of Trauma, establishing the Armory as the Regional Affiliate for the national Scholastic Art Competition for Palm Beach and Martin Counties with an average of 3,000 student entries competing for scholarships each year, developing a working partnership with SunFest, and establishing the West Palm Beach Arts Festival at the Armory. He also brought in new and thought-provoking exhibitions such as: Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, The Covid Memorial Quilt, and We’re All Wearing Masks Now.
