Spring is in full bloom at the farm, and the season is bringing new energy across all our programs. Hear from our Program Director, Sara Zurenko, as she shares a quick update and welcomes you to this month's newsletter.

We are thrilled to share that our 11th Annual Jockeys & Juleps Derby Party is officially sold out! This incredible milestone would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors, donors, guests and the unwavering support of our community. Thank you for making this moment possible and for standing with us as we continue to grow our impact throughout the Mid-South.

On Saturday, May 2, more than 800 attendees will come together for BIG HATS, BOURBON, BLUEGRASS, an incredible silent and live auction, and a live broadcast of the 152nd Kentucky Derby.

While tickets and tables are no longer available, there is still a wonderful way to be part of the excitement and support our mission. Be sure to register to bid in our online auction, which goes live on Sunday, April 26. Every bid helps carry our mission forward, and we would be so grateful for your support.

Our therapy horses are at the heart of everything we do, and they deserve the very best care. Through the support of our Guardian Angels, we are able to provide for their ongoing needs and be prepared for unexpected medical expenses, ensuring each horse stays healthy, comfortable, and ready to serve our participants. Thanks to this incredible community, our herd is already receiving the extra care they deserve, and we are deeply grateful. Even small monthly gifts make a meaningful difference for the horses who give so much of themselves every day.

Moments of Connection:

Beyond the Saddle and Pony Pals Visits

This year has already been filled with meaningful moments, both at the farm and out in the community. Through our Beyond the Saddle visits, groups from White Station High School, Thrive Memphis, Memphis Jewish Home, Madonna Learning Center, the Down Syndrome Association of the Mid-South, and A Hope and A Future have spent time connecting with our horses and engaging in activities that build confidence, connection, and learning in new ways. Our Pony Pals visits have carried that same spirit beyond our gates, bringing our miniature ponies to share joy and encouragement with friends at Olive Branch High School, Center Hill High School, Lake Cormorant High School, and StoryPoint Collierville.

Thank you to each partner for helping create these special experiences that meet participants where they are and highlight the impact of connection through our herd.

Behind every moment of growth at Southern Reins is an incredible therapy horse or pony. Meet a few of the personalities who make it all possible:

Clint is the definition of steady - dependable, reassuring, and quietly confident - helping participants discover their strength and walk away a little taller. Smokey and Bandit, our inseparable miniature donkeys, bring a spark of joy wherever they go. Full of curiosity, charm, and just the right touch of mischief, they have a way of making every moment a little brighter.

All of these incredible animals plays a meaningful role in the growth, confidence, and connection our participants experience every day. As a horse sponsor, you will help ensure they receive the exceptional care, nutrition, and support they need to continue this life-changing work.

Clint is currently seeking a $2,500 annual sponsor, and Smokey and Bandit can be sponsored individually for $2,500 each or together for $5,000.

If you have been looking for a meaningful way to make an impact, this is an opportunity to stand behind these remarkable partners - and be part of every life they help change.
