Greetings from the farm!
February is the perfect month to celebrate friendship and the things we love. This month we launched our Guardian Angel Horse Club fundraiser and celebrated our Winter Session Volunteer Appreciation Week. Our spring session is just around the corner, so we look forward to sharing warmer weather and brilliant smiles with new and returning participants. Our 8th Annual Jockeys & Juleps Derby Party is coming up soon on Saturday, May 6, so purchase your event tickets and reserve your sponsorship today to join us in celebrating BIG HATS, BOURBON, BLUEGRASS, and a live broadcast of the 2023 Kentucky Derby.
Here are just a few highlights of all of the great things happening at the farm was we continue to change lives . . . one ride at a time.

Support Our Horses as a Guardian Angel
|
|
Our therapy horses are the foundation of our program and are the vital component to helping our program provide the highest quality services available. You can contribute to the continued care of our amazing team of horses with a recurring monthly donation to our Guardian Angel Horse Fund. Donations received from our Guardian Angels are exclusively allocated to cover excess medical costs, diagnostic care, medication and the best nutritional support for our herd.
With a recurring donation of just $5 A MONTH - or any amount you would like to give - your support will underwrite excess medical costs, diagnostics and medications, and the best nutritional support so they can continue creating life-changing moments for every participant they serve.

|
They give so much joy to so many . . . we hope YOU will become a Guardian Angel today so they can continue to change lives . . . one ride at a time.

|
We would like to share our deepest gratitude to our AMAZING volunteers for making our Winter Session one to remember! We appreciate you for sharing your time and talent to support our participants and make every step count to help them achieve their goals, and thank you for braving the cold to help care for our horses with your warm hearts.
You continue to inspire us with your invaluable devotion and support makes every day the best day at Southern Reins. From the bottom of our hearts . . . Thank you.

CONTINUING EDUCATION SERIES
This month we launched our 2023 volunteer continuing education series led by Program Director, Sara Zurenko, to review Southern Reins' policies and procedures for sidewalking and horse leading. The sessions are open to all current volunteers, and are a great resource to learn more about interacting with our horses and participants.

THANK YOU KIWANIS CLUB OF GERMANTOWN
Participant Clark Tompkins proudly presented the check to Jill Haag and Sara Zurenko on behalf of the Kiwanis Club of Germantown to sponsor our newest therapy horse, Rio! We look forward to welcoming Kiwanis Club members for a tour next month, and Rio is looking forward to meeting them, too!

HORSE BLANKET HEROES
Our horses have been having a grande time during turnout, especially after the big storm. Rolling in the mud made most of their blankets almost unrecognizable!
It was a dirty job, but Brenda and Donna were all smiles as they cleaned all their blankets to keep our herd looking good for their next big outdoor adventure!
