Our 2026 Summer Session is off to a wonderful start! Every day, the farm is filled with the sights and sounds that make Southern Reins so special: horses heading to lessons, volunteers lending a helping hand, participants working toward their goals, and families cheering on each success along the way. It is a season full of hard work, laughter, learning, and meaningful moments that remind us why our mission matters.

We are excited to share a few highlights from around the farm with you!

Welcome to the Southern Reins Family

Please join us in welcoming Southern Reins' new

Education and Equine Care Assistant, Autumn Bultman!

Autumn was born and raised in Wisconsin. She graduated from UW-Platteville with a bachelor's degree in EC-MC Education and later obtained her farrier certification from Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School. Autumn was an elementary education teacher for 5 years before relocating to Memphis, TN and joining Southern Reins in 2026. She has worked with and owned horses since she was 5 years old, and has experience in multiple disciplines with an emphasis on breaking colts and barrel racing. Autumn is currently in pursuit of becoming certified as a PATH Intl. Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning, PATH Intl. Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator in Education and PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor.

Outside of Autumn’s professional role, she enjoys spending time with her two adopted dogs, Doobie and Jagger, and her homebred, raised and trained 2029 futurity hopeful, DollyBeggedMeNotTo.

Southern Reins is excited to introduce Equine Care Assistant,

London Arwood, to our team!

London is a high school senior from Somerville, Tennessee, with a lifelong passion for animals and equine care. She began volunteering with Fayette County Animal Rescue at just seven years old, where her interest in animal health and veterinary medicine first took root. London joined the

Southern Reins team in the summer of 2026 and is excited to combine her love of horses with her commitment to helping others. After graduation, London plans to attend Murray State University, where she hopes to compete on the collegiate rodeo team while pursuing a degree in Animal Science with a pre-veterinary focus.

In her free time, London enjoys barrel racing with her mare, Ruby, and spending as much time as possible around horses.

Southern Reins is thrilled to share our 2025 Annual Report, celebrating an incredible year of impact, growth, and meaningful milestones!

In 2025, Southern Reins served 274 participants and clients, bringing our total to more than 2,200 individuals served since our founding in 2015, with volunteers filling over 3,800 shifts in support of our mission. Because of the generosity of our donors, the dedication of our staff and volunteers, and the incredible partnership of our therapy horses, we are grateful to continue creating meaningful, life-changing moments and lasting impact in the community we serve.

Camps, Connections, and Summer Smiles

Camp season is in full swing at Southern Reins as we celebrate a joyful start to our Adaptive Discovery Summer Camp alongside a successful week with our YMCA of Memphis & The Mid-South Summer Camp partnership. Our Adaptive Discovery campers have completed an incredible first week filled with hands-on time with our therapy horses, creative projects, outdoor fun, and new friendships, with confidence and smiles growing each day. We were also thrilled to welcome over 500 YMCA campers to the farm for a week of field trip experiences filled with scavenger hunts, horse interactions, crafts, and games. We are so grateful to our volunteers whose time and heart help make these meaningful summer moments possible!

Our Mission is to serve individuals with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities and hardship by providing equine-assisted services to empower, inspire, nurture and succeed.
