Greetings from the farm!
As we celebrate the beginning of spring and the start of a new session, we cannot wait for more daylight, warmer temperatures, and plenty of sunshine to make our participants' smiles even brighter. This month we kicked off our 2023 Spring Session with one of our largest adaptive riding and Occupational Therapy incorporating Hippotherapy sessions. We are excited to resume our TEACH program and Pony Pals visits with our most charming pony, Clyde, as well as welcome back veterans participating in our PATH Intl. Equine Services for Heroes program. Our 8th Annual Jockeys & Juleps Derby Party is also coming up soon, so reserve your sponsorship and purchase your event tickets to celebrate the Run for the Roses . . . Memphis style on Saturday, May 6.
Here are just a few highlights of all of the great things happening at the farm as we continue to change lives . . . one ride at a time.

We are excited to share the big news that Southern Reins' very own Alicia Lartigue and Wayne Burkett were named PATH Intl. Region 5 Award Winners! Alicia was selected as the PATH Intl. Equine Caretaker of the Year, and Wayne was recognized as the PATH Intl. Volunteer of the Year. Every day Alicia and Wayne go above and beyond to care for our team of therapy horses, participants, and our facilities. Their dedication can be seen in everything they do, and we are so fortunate to have them on our team.

Pony Pals Visit to Collierville Elementary School
|
|
This month our handsome UK Shetland Pony, Clyde, had a great time visiting Collierville Elementary School. All of the kids were excited to meet him, and he loved making so many new friends. Clyde's visit was generously funded by the Collierville Rotary Club, and we were so happy to see all of the smiling faces during our visit.
Our Pony Pals program shares the benefits of interacting with our therapy pony for groups who are unable to visit our facility. Pony Pals visits are offered to assisted living facilities, nursing homes, grief and therapy centers, rehabilitation centers, memory care facilities, and local schools. For more information about Pony Pals, email rylee.davis@southernreins.org.

The King of Southern Reins
This month we would like to officially introduce Elvis to our wonderful team of therapy horses. Elvis joined the herd in November, and is generously sponsored by our longtime friend, MJ Foletta Fehlhaber. Elvis is undeniably handsome with his baby blue eyes and beautiful black and white coat, and his gentle and kind disposition has earned him quite the fan club at the farm.
