THE MISSION FOR SLEEP IN HEAVELY PEACE IS SIMPLE:

"NO CHILD SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN..."

This year Southminster has the opportunity to partner with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Their mission is getting kids off the floor and into beds. Volunteers build beds, and go on bed deliveries where they reassemble and then make the bed with sheets, blanket and comforter.

In November, Southminster will sponsor 30 of the 91 kids who are waiting on beds in Gaston County.

On Saturday, November 15th, we need 30 to 35 volunteers to build beds at a workshop in Belmont. All materials and tools are provided.

We were planning to deliver the beds on Saturday, November 22nd. We will reschedule this date while we await more mattresses. A sign-up for delivery will be made available as soon as we know the new date.

If you would like to work with us, click on the link below to sign-up.

URGENT VOLUNTEER NEED:

We are seeking additional volunteers to serve in a rotation in our nursery and for children's worship.

If you would be willing to serve in these critical roles, please contact Linda Stapleton or Pastor Dan.

Southminster has two opportunities to work at the Operation Christmas Child Distribution Center. Come join us as we serve to prepare shoeboxes for their journey around the world. Samaritan's Purse needs our help to get boxes ready to ship. This one box makes an eternal impact on children by sharing the Good News and great joy of Jesus Christ.

This is a fun time with fellow church members and friends and makes a big impact. We generally work for a few hours, take a food and water break and then finish our shift.

Carpooling will be available from the church. Contact Amy Parker at ahparker68@gmail.com to join in on this rewarding event.

  • Tuesday, December 9th 1:00-5:00
  • Saturday, December 20th 6:00-1000

Please sign up by November 16th for December 9th and November 23rd for December 20th.

SAVE THESE DATES

There are a number of opportunities to get involved in the work God has called Southminster to do in our community. Those missions and dates are:

  • DEC 3 / 6:00PM: Operation Christmas Child Potluck & Packing Party
  • DEC 6: Black Mountain Home Christmas Party. Giftcards are available in the Lobby - plan to join the group for the get together in Black Mountain

CHURCH OFFICE UPDATES

PHONE SYSTEMS / VOICEMAIL

Southminster has a new phone system. This system will allow staff to monitor calls without being physically present on campus.  When you call into the church you will hear an automated message. To hear the directory press #2 then the staff member’s extension. Your voice message will forward to the staff member’s email.

CONTRIBUTIONS UPDATES

As we continue to enhance connections and communication, we have some exciting upgrades coming.  Several of you may already be receiving email updates when you tithe to the church.

This is just one feature of the Planning Center System we are working to put into full utilization.  Soon, we will be transitioning to the Planning Center App.  Keep looking for updates and training will be available to fully integrate this improvement into the life of the church.
