FROM THE BISHOP'S OFFICE

After the recent flooding in Texas, the Southwestern Texas Synod, with the generous support from Lutheran Disaster Response, has been able to hire a full-time staff person to coordinate the synod’s disaster preparedness and response.

We are excited to announce Bryce Kennedy will be the synod’s Innovator for Resiliency and Preparedness!

Originally from Houston, Bryce has made Southwestern Texas his home since 2010. He brings 15 years of professional experience in the oil field along with a strong commitment to serving his community. His volunteer work includes serving as a firefighter, coaching youth teams, organizing large community events, and being actively involved with his home congregation, Emmanuel’s Lutheran Church in Seguin.

Building on previous work done in the synod for disaster response, Bryce will focus on strengthening community connections, fostering collaboration, and building strategies that enhance preparedness and resiliency across our region.

Outside of his professional and volunteer commitments, Bryce enjoys spending time outdoors and taking spontaneous road trips with his family.

Bryce will begin on October 16.
