4TH MONARCH IS RELEASED

Monarch Update: We released our 4th Monarch butterfly (top photo) last Saturday. This one was a male. You can tell by the black spots on the lower wings.

That orange and black punch of color took my eye. I sketched (bottom photo) the butterfly for my diary. The page you see has a stenciled background. I used Mayan Violet watercolor for the stenciling.

Then I drew the butterfly using a fairly heavy graphite pencil. Watercolors followed. There's some Micron pen work in there too. I finished off the sketch with a scrapbooking pen that has thixotropic (google it!) white ink.

I like it!
