Meet Dawn Urrutia, BSS, '10 !
Dawn is a 2010 Social Science, Magna Cum Laude Spalding graduate who is making the world a better place by bringing folks together through her love of baking pies and making a difference in children's lives. Dawn has a pie shop in Louisville; Georgia's Sweet Potato Pie CO that USA TODAY named the best pie shop in Kentucky! Check out the link below to learn more about Dawn and her great work!

"Spalding University has been a big part of my life for the past 9 years, having started attending in pursuit of my Bachelor’s in Social Work, and not gearing toward the end of my DSW. The greatest thing about my experience with Spalding, however, is meeting my beautiful wife Bree (who graduated from the OT program) and creating our amazing family. We met through dorm life, and got closer while serving on the Campus Activities Board and Egan Service Learning Program. Finally, one night at a party with our fellow SU students, we really started talking more. The next thing we knew, we were having dinner and movie dates at the dorms and starting our future together. Thank you Spalding for helping us meet, and Happy Valentine’s Day Bree!"- Austin Walls

"Brandon and I met online in 2013. He was already attending Spalding and in their basketball program. 4 months later, I also started at Spalding to major in Nursing. Daily lunch dates were our thing when we had classes on the same days, which are always fun to look back on."- Shelby Goeing '17
"In 2017, we both graduated with our bachelor degrees - Brandon in Business and mine in Nursing. 1 year later, we got married and in 2019 welcomed our first baby boy to the world. This April we’ll be welcoming our second. Spalding University will always bring back special memories for us and we’re forever grateful for the extra time we were able to spend together due to attending the same university!"- Shelby Goeing '17

"Aaron and I met at Spalding in 2013. I was a freshman and he was a sophomore. We lived in the same dorm hall. I played Volleyball and he played Soccer for Spalding. With both of us living in the same dorm and playing fall sports, we spent a lot of time together (although at first I secretly found him a tad annoying, but he ended up winning me over lol) We dated all throughout college and we got married in November of 2018! We have a beautiful home in Southern Indiana with our two fur babies. We are so blessed and blessed by each other! We are thankful Spalding played a big role in bringing us together!" - Victoria Seneker
"Our favorite things to do on campus were get lunch at the pod together, hang out in the gym/workout facility when we didn’t have practice or conditioning, and hanging out in the dorms with other friends or we would binge watch our favorite Netflix show together (Dexter). We also loved walking across the street to Kroger (when it was still there) and loading up on junk food and drinks!"- Victoria Seneker
Spalding University added another name to its historic gym on Saturday. Columbia Gym is now the home of Kevin Gray Court. Coach Kevin Gray is the men's head basketball coach at Spalding University- where he has coached for over 24 years. In addition to getting his name on the court, Mayor Greg Fischer declared February 12, 2022, as Coach Kevin Gray Day in the city of Louisville. The unveiling ceremony took place in Columbia Gym on Saturday, February 12, before the men's basketball game against Westminster College. Spalding men's basketball team defeated Westminster College on Coach Kevin T. Gray Court, 62-47.

In Memoriam

Sister Rose Howard died on February 4, 2022, at Nazareth Home in Louisville, KY, at the age of 85. She served as a member of the Board of Trustees at Spalding University and was a true inspiration. Sister Rose began her ministry at Bellarmine University in Louisville in 1973. She earned a doctoral degree in education from Vanderbilt University. She guided the various ministries of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth as director of the SCN’s office of congregational ministries. Her service to the community and volunteer efforts in the city of Louisville was commendable. Let us all remember Sister Rose Howard with love and light.

"Dr. Svjetlana “Lana” Watson, previously a member of the nursing faculty of Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus, is the new Chair of the Spalding University School of Nursing, and Dr. Sara Story has been promoted to the position of Chair of Spalding’s Auerbach 
School of Occupational Therapy, where she is a longtime faculty member."

MSAT Athletic Training Month Presentation
