Managing Partner Shazia Sparkman was recognized by Are You Safe co-founder and board member Natalie Baird during the group's Purple Party on September 26. The event, held at Jackson's Bistro, was to celebrate the work of volunteers and to shine light on the organization, which provides free legal services to victims of domestic violence.

The 2013 Banyan Ball brought together supporters of the Indo-US Chamber of Commerce. Their members are a source of inspiration by promoting professionalism and excellence through education and community involvement.

Managing Partner Shazia Sparkman connected with other attorneys at the SABA (South Asian Bar Association) Tampa Chapter social on Sept. 11. Here she is with attorney Tara Rao, who focuses on estate planning.

Managing Partner Shazia Sparkman and Easter Seals' Laura Dile at the Mix n Mingle Event at Neiman Marcus on Sept. 19. Dear  friends, null

We retained some wonderful new clients recently who were referred to us by friends, family, and other attorneys.

We can't thank you all enough for thinking of us when someone you know is looking for a reputable, honest, and hardworking lawyer to resolve legal issues.

We're so grateful for your support and always try to pay it forward to show our appreciation. As a result, in September, Shazia was recognized for her work by a nonprofit organization, Are You Safe, which provides legal assistance for victims of domestic violence. We are so humbled.

As small business owners, we also do what we can to support our fellow entrepreneurs. Last month, we were honored to be sponsors of the Banyan Ball, which benefits the Indo-US Chamber of Commerce, an organization that provides an active forum for Asian American professionals and business owners to secure a position within the business industry. What a great networking event!

We also attended a Mix n Mingle gathering at Neiman Marcus to benefit Easter Seals and the FARA Energy Ball, which raised money to find a cure for Friedreich's Ataxia. FA is a debilitating neuro-muscular disease that is caused by a lack of energy production that our cells need for proper function and survival.

On the work-front, please help us welcome our new legal assistant, Erica Jones. We've asked her five questions in this newsletter so that you may learn a bit more about her. To read more about Erica, please visit her bio page on our website here.

Thank you again for always thinking of us. Have a wonderful October!

Warmest wishes,

Kevin & Shazia

Morning person or night owl?
Night Owl

Skill I wish I had:  Sewing. I am a very creative person and extremely organized but cannot seem to master the technique.  I once tried to make a pillow from a pattern shaped like a heart and ended up with a very comfy square pillow.

Favorite board game: I am the reigning Monopoly queen of my house.

Secret talent: I am trained in tap and jazz even though I have not done it in years.  I have performed in many musicals including 42nd Street, Chicago, and Rent, to name a few.

If I won the lottery:  I would donate to the Shriner's Children Hospital and then pay off all my debts and help my family out.  Then I would purchase something fun like a large SUV and some Luis Vuitton heels with the red sole (shh! Don't tell my hubby)

Upcoming Event
The Tampa Chapter of the Florida Muslim Bar Association (FMBA) will host a Mixer to promote diversity and inclusion in the legal profession on Monday, Oct. 21.

As an FMBA board member, Managing Partner Shazia Sparkman co-chairs the Tampa event.

Former Florida CFO Alex Sink and Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin Beckner will say a few words.

We wish to thank these wonderful sponsors and look forward to a fantastic evening!
