Ribbons of Light:
a Reflection by our Executive Presbyter
Our Quaker brothers and sisters have a beautiful way of describing prayer as "holding in the Light of God".  I absolutely love that!  In the past few months, I’ve taken to describing prayer as “Ribbons of Light”.   Just as ribbons bind something together, so too does prayer.  The very act of holding a situation – or a person – before God certainly draws us together in hope, courage, imagination, and love.  Ribbons are also fluid, able to move about in a breeze, creating a wondrous flutter of color and beauty .  Prayer, as movement with – and toward – the Holy Spirit – creates its own beauty in the world as well.
May your Lent be hemmed by the hope of Jesus Christ our Lord.
