FOREMAN FOCUS

LARRY'S WORLD
This section will focus on what's going on in our Prefab department led by Prefab Manager Larry Nelson.

Prefab completed a large set of racks and elbow bends to be delivered to the College Lake Water Treatment Plant and Intake Facilities Project in Watsonville, CA. The project includes developing College Lake into

a new water supply for the Pajaro Valley. It also consists of two major components: the water treatment plant and intake facilities,

and the pipeline.

The project will help reduce groundwater overdraft and seawater intrusion while improving habitat for the endangered South-Central California coast steelhead. The pipeline will consist of a six-mile,

thirty-inch water main to transport treated water to over 5,500 acres

of farmland through the existing water conveyance pipeline, which consists of twenty-two miles of pipelines. Using project water helps

to protect the Pajaro Valley's groundwater basin while preserving

the ability to farm in the area.

COLLINS BUSINESS SYSTEM

CECI SharePoint Road Map

SharePoint provides a web-based space where users can upload a document to share with others who need to see it. Users can also have their own personal storage space called OneDrive, where no one can see documents or files uploaded until they “share” or allow access to that document with other users. This makes enabling a segment of

co-workers to see a published document is a one-step process, but it

doesn’t have to be. The approval and workflow features mentioned above can control how documents are shared and how employees work on information in their organizations.

Links to shared documents or collaboration spaces can also be sent via email, making it easy for users to access files quickly. Organizations frequently use SharePoint to publish company-wide information such as HR documents, announcements, and memos.

Collins Electrical utilizes SharePoint in many ways specific to the Collins Business System (CBS). SharePoint is a library of forms, files, and data sources. This link takes users to the primary portal.

Click on the Collins Business System tab (highlighted in yellow),

and the following screen appears.

Click the down arrow next to the Collins Business System Folders tab (highlighted in yellow), and the following screen appears.

At this point, you may scroll down to view each of the folders currently available. General categories have been developed to accommodate most activities, such as A3s, event photos, PowerPoint slide decks, templates, etc. For instance, when you click on the Template's folder, the following files, templates, and information is available to you:

For instance, when you click on the Template's folder, the following files, templates, and information are available to you:

One advantage of using SharePoint as a library is that the most up-to-date version of a document resides there. No more use of the five-year-old version living on a desktop. Additionally, if you are off for work, others have access to information in your absence. Here is another example of a document that lives on SharePoint:

This is a template that may be used for developing

Leader Standard Work which may improve your workflow.

Thank you to all who attended the 209 and 831 American Heart and Stroke Walks. This year, we met our coaches goal of 15 and our walker goal of 175 walkers sign up for the Collins Electrical team! The efforts of all our employees, friends, and families, as well as vendor partners who participated and donated to the walk, give the American Heart Association the capacity to save lives by supporting research, education, and advocacy efforts in the 209 and 831 areas and beyond.

We have raised $85,666 and are close to reaching our fundraising goal of $116,444. Every dollar counts! This doesn't include CECI's employee match. If we include our current CECI match, it will bring us to $96,803.17. We only need $3,196.83 to reach $100,000! Please help by making a donation or sharing our Heart Walk page on your social media pages. If you donate $5, CECI will match your $5 donation.

CONGRATULATIONS STEVE LARSEN!

Last week, the West Sacramento branch hosted a retirement party for one of our valued employees, West Sacramento Project Executive Steve Larsen. Steve officially retired from CECI on October 19th, 2023. Steve has been an integral part of the company over the past

thirty-seven years. He started working for Collins as a field employee in 1985 and moved to the office in 1999. Steve was a General Superintendent from 2000 through 2018 and retired as a Project Executive in 2023. We would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to Steve for his dedicated service, and we wish

him the best in this exciting new journey.

L-R: Corporate Chief Transformation Officer Craig Gini, West Sacramento Project Executive Steve Larsen, and Corporate Co-CEOs Kevin and Brian Gini.

L-R: West Sacramento General Superintendent Joe Ory, West Sacramento Branch Manager Marc Muzzo, and West Sacramento Project Executive Steve Larsen.

"Steve Larsen is the living embodiment of Collins’ core value of Loyalty. Steve was with the West Sacramento Branch of Collins for 38 years, starting as an apprentice in 1985 and continually taking on new roles, including 18 years as the General Superintendent and 5 years as a Project Executive. During his time at Collins, Steve taught countless electricians in the field how to work smarter, harder, and faster. There are many General Foremen, Foremen, and Journeymen (not to mention the many people in the office) that were influenced by Steve’s no-nonsense approach to getting things done and benefitted from his vast electrical knowledge. Steve always had Collins’ best interests in mind when he made decisions, coordinated with General Contractors and trade partners, or fought for change orders.

It is said that the success of a leader can be measured by his or her influence on other people, and Steve certainly had a strong influence on many of the people that form the core of the field and office of the West Sacramento branch.

Steve will be greatly missed, and I wish him the best of luck in the future!"

-West Sacramento Branch Manager Marc Muzzo
