Alleghany Pitch Night 2025!

What: Join us for the fun, free event as we support local entrepreneurs as they pitch their business ideas for cash prizes! YOU are invited to help decide the Audience Choice Award while gaining the opportunity to network and learn more about what is going on in Alleghany County.

Beginning Watercolor Classes

Scheduled: Beginning Watercolor Classes! Very informative classes, some basic information needed and several watercolor exercises.

1 Class once a week for 2 hours, for 6 weeks.

Classes will be held at Little Seed Kitchen & Bakery, Main St., Sparta, NC

6 Weds., May 7-May 28, & June 4 & 11. 9:30 a.-11:30 a.

Please arrive at 9:15. Little Seed will have coffee/pastries/treats to sell, as well as lunch if you wish to dine after class. Those of you who sent messages of interest, please firm up your space now for this 6-week class and to get supply list. $20. per class. Must register for all 6. Class fee $120, payable at registration.  Class size is limited.

Alleghany Jubilee: The new (temporary) location will be at the Sparta United Methodist Church on Saturday nights at 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:30.


Laconia Ale Works: Open Mic Night, Wednesdays, 6:00 pm


Main Street Pizzeria: Live Music every Friday Night 7-10 pm 


Muddy Creek: Honky Tonk Wednesdays, every Wednesday at 7:00 pm (music hall), Open Mic Night, 3rd Thursday, 7:30 pm (cafe stage)

Alleghany County Library: Gaming Buddies, Tuesdays, 10:30 - 12:00 pm (18 years old and up only)


Alleghany Quilters Guild: Fourth Thursday each month at the Alleghany Library; sewing starts at 10:00 am and meeting at 1:00 pm


Mountain Homespun Fiber Guild: First Tuesday of each month at the Alleghany Library; More info on their website.


Piney Creek Non-food Pantry: Mount Zion UMC of Piney Creek hosts this event the 2nd Tuesday of each month, April-Nov, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Includes a Free Lunch. Call Alleghany in Motion at 336.372.8747 if you need a ride there.

The Alleghany County Chamber was created by and is composed of member businesses, organizations and individuals within the Alleghany area. It is overseen by a 12-14 member board.
