Hello SMPS Families!
I want to start by thanking all of you for your patience and support over the past week as we navigated weather-related delays. These decisions are never taken lightly—our priority is always safety. The best-case scenario is when we can make a call the night before, but that’s not always possible. When that happens, the process begins between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m., with Mrs. Stoffer and I evaluating conditions by reaching out to key contacts across the county. We also monitor decisions made by other schools and districts, but that is just one of many factors we consider. I am incredibly grateful for the people who assist in this process and appreciate the understanding from our families.
Accreditation Team Visit Next Week
Looking ahead, on Wednesday, February 12th, we welcome our Visiting Committee for the three-day visit portion of our accreditation process. Prior to their arrival, the committee has been carefully reading and reviewing our Self-Study. Over the course of their visit, the five-person team will visit classrooms, meet with students, teachers, Father Chad, school leadership, and parish staff, and in the evenings, they will meet with parents from the School Commission and various grade levels. On Thursday and Friday, they will continue their visits while writing their report, which will be finalized by the end of the day Friday. (Don’t forget, DISMISSAL is at NOON on 2/14/25!)
We are honored to have the visiting team join us for our All-School Mass on Friday at 9:00 a.m. As always, you are warmly invited to attend. After the visit, the School Leadership Team, along with Father Chad and our commissioner, Dr. Justyna King, will review the report, which will then be shared with the faculty and staff. A final copy of the report will arrive in the coming weeks, and we look forward to sharing it with our school community. If you’d like to learn more about the accreditation process, you can visit the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) website at wcea.org.
A huge thank you to our faculty and staff for their dedication over the past 15 months in preparing the Self-Study and ensuring everything is in place for this visit. Please keep our visiting team in your prayers—for their safe travels and for our entire school and parish community as we complete this important accreditation journey. May the Holy Spirit be with us all in the coming days!
Adoration & Reflection with Bishop Schuster
On Sunday, February 16th, Bishop Frank Schuster will join us for our 5PM Mass. Mass will be followed with priase and worship, adoration and a reflection on grief and loss at 6:30PM. A light reception will follow the reflection. All are welcome.
Wishing you all a blessed and restful weekend!
Blessings,
Mrs. Dana Lashley
