Snowstorm Luncheon Volunteers Needed  
Please consider giving of your time on Wednesday, December 19th to make the Snowstorm luncheon a success.   It is hosted by all grades and is a time for teachers to sit down as a whole group and to receive their Snowstorm Gifts. Main dishes will be catered so we are asking for monetary contributions. There are sign ups for volunteers, salads, desserts, appetizers, paper products, etc.  Our volunteers are particularly important on half day lunches as things move quickly AND we want all staff duties covered so they can all eat as one big group. We have included many ways for everyone to be a part of this great luncheon! 

"FINAL EXAMS" Bake Sale -  Can't think of a better thing to help your kids through a stressful  week of finals than a mid morning treat. Support the bake sale  hosted by the Class of 2019, Tues Dec 18-Thurs Dec 20 held during  the break between exams. Most items will cost $1.00-$2.00.   **Senior families: We are seeking donations of baked goods
thoughout that week.  We thank you for your support and wish you a peaceful holiday  season!
In Need of:  Nurse Sheneman and the school is in need of disinfecting wipes such as Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer such as Purell, and facial tissue such as Kleenex.  Please consider picking up some of these items as you do your holiday shopping. Just drop them off in the bin in the office or you can even have some delivered directly to the school by ordering on Amazon using the SPA link in the upper left corner of this blast to get money back to the school.  Please help keep the students healthy!   
SAVE the Date for the next SPA PSO General Meeting:   Award-winning speaker, Stephanie Siete, Public Information Officer of Community Bridges, will be on campus to talk about drug awareness, specifically opioids, vaping, and oils on Wednesday, January 9th from 6:30 to 7:30 pm in the SPA theater.  This is an important presentation for all SPA parents!

Support Mr. & Mrs. Clement - SPA Bake Sale

As many of you may know, Mr. Travis Clement (music teacher and speech & debate leader) is preparing for an upcoming kidney transplant in January. His wife, Anna Chasse-Clement (drama & lit/comp teacher and drama club leader) will be taking time off to care for him during his recovery. In an effort to show our support for the Clements during this challenging time, the SPA community will be holding a bake sale on Friday, December 14th in the SPA Library. Here's how you can help:
  • SPA Faculty Favorite Recipes will be available for purchase for $5.00
  • Attend the bake sale. Parents are welcome to drop by from 7am - 8am for coffee and a sweet treat. The bake sale will be open throughout the day for students to visit during lunch, lyceum or after school.

College Counseling News
SPA Alumni Question & Answer- Monday, Dec 17th in the SPA Theater   Graduates from SPA will share their college experience - applying, deciding where to attend and transitioning from SPA to college. Panelists representing various colleges are as follows:
Period 1 (7:40-8:35) and Period 2 (9:05-10:05):  Rice, Claremont McKenna, The King's College, Colorado State, ASU and UA. 
Period 3 (10:10-11:05) and Period 4 (11:10 -12:05) Alabama, Barrett, Vanderbilt, ASU, USC, NAU and Seattle University.  
Period 6 (1:40-2:35): Vanderbilt, Gonzaga, Boston College, UA, Illinois Institute of Technology, and UCLA. 
                                Parents are welcome to attend!

Introduction to College, Thursday, January 17th 6:00-6:30 PM in the Theater   An information night for freshman families about what you can be doing now to prepare for college.
Interpreting Your PSAT Score Report: Thursday, January 17th 6:30-7:30 PM in the Theater   Kaplan will hold an information session for 9th-11th grade students and parents to better understand your PSAT score report.  Information about National Merit qualification will also be presented.

           January Conference Schedule Info
Parent Conferences will be held January 22nd-25th for grade levels and sections that were not scheduled in October. All 7th-11th grade students will lead their own conferences.  Students in 6th grade are welcome to attend their conference, but not required to do so. Students in 6th and 7th grade will be notified via email to schedule a conference time in Sign Up Genius on their sections designated date prior to winter break. Students in 8th -11th grade will receive an email with their scheduled appointment time prior to winter break. Click here for a copy of the January Conference Bell Schedule.

PSO Drug Awareness Presentation Sold Out!
Thank you to the many parents that have registered on Eventbrite to attend the January 9th PSO sponsored Drug Awareness Presentation with Stephanie Siete.  It is sold out for this evening and it is requested if circumstances arise that you and your students are unable to attend that you go into Eventbrite and cancel your tickets to open up for another family.  As a reminder students who are attending are to be accompanied by a parent.  If you have any questions please contact Jo Polk at  Thank you!
