May 2025

Message from Missy Minton

Executive Director, CKG Foundation

May is an important month. It bridges spring and summer and with it comes longer days, abundant sunshine, and beautiful flowers. It's also the month we celebrate Mental Health Awareness across America. A vibrant month to shine a light into darkness, to open the door to stigma-reducing conversations, and share the numerous ways we can proactively take care of our mental health. I invite you to take a look at all the ways Cameron's team has diligently prepared a month of self-care and community and ask that you consider helping us to fight the good fight against depression and anxiety.

Self-Care Calendar

Throughout this month, we’re encouraging everyone to take a moment for themselves and focus on the importance of mental health.

Our Self-Care Calendar Guide is designed to help you incorporate small, positive habits into your daily routine. Each day offers simple self-care activities that can reduce stress, boost your mood, and support your mental well-being.

Whether it's practicing mindfulness, journaling, or reaching out for support, these small actions can make a big difference. Let’s come together this May to raise awareness and take care of our minds, just as we do our bodies!

Community Day

Join CKG for Community Day on Tuesday, May 13 at the CKG office in Scott's Addition between 9-12pm! We want to give back to our community by offering free coffee, mental health resources, raffle prizes, CKG swag, and more!

Studio Two Three will be on-site with their screen printing truck. Stop by for your free gift from CKG to screen print with one of Cameron's quotes.

Join us for a free dance class at Turn Dance Studio from 8:15-8:45am then walk over to CKG afterwards.

Mental Health Education

Thank you to everyone who attended our first ever You Are Worth It All Teen Mental Health Festival sponsored by Towne Bank.

We were honored to serve over 60 teens who attended breakout sessions on topics such as Mental Health & Athletes, Self Esteem & Body Image, Mental Health Tips & Tricks, and Positive Coping Skills. The event included therapy dogs, an interactive zentangle art mural, and delicious food provided by Papa Johns and Dunkin' Donuts.

Congratulations to Kenzie Strohhacker from Mechanicsville High School and Cooper Conrad from Atlee High School. Each received a $2,500 scholarship for their educational endeavors.
