There are still a few spaces open, but not for long. If you want to bring your spouse, now is the time to reserve that extra spot before we are all sold out! Cost is $25/each.
Here are the details for this Friday's Holiday Lights Bus Tour.
We will meet at the Raley's parking lot on Skyway near the auto store on Friday, December 14th at 5:45 pm. Don't be late because the bus leaves promptly at 6:00 pm!
Bring a snack or drink for the bus if you need a little extra sustenance along the way.
Our driver has routes planned and knows all the best places to view the best Christmas lights.
Our first stop is at Bonnie's house (4166 Augusta) for some light 'dinner' fare/appetizers.
Then, we continue our tour to our next stop, Carol's house (4798 Songbird) for desserts.
Looking forward to seeing everyone this Friday, December 14th.

Message from President Bonnie Chapman
Greetings Soroptimists!
What do you call people who are afraid of Santa Claus?
Claustrophobic!
We have a week of Soropti-FUN ahead! I hope to see many of you at our After Hours at Alternative Heating and Air tonight. Thanks to Jeanne and family for hosting us and your flexibility in rescheduling. Saving the best program for the last one of the year, we are so thrilled to have Dr. Gayle E. Hutchinson as our guest speaker tomorrow. Don't miss it!
Finally, on Friday, we have our 2nd
annual Bus Tour of Holiday Lights! There are still seats available through Wednesday's meeting.
It's another great week to be a Soroptimist!

December Member of the Month
Hi! I'm Jeanne Smith,
Here's a little about me, I'm very social and like to think I'm open to most things, I love a challenge, but I really don't think of myself as competitive.
I was the first, last and middle child. That is I had a brother and sister 9 and 8 years older, and a brother 6 years younger. My parents were Catholic! I had a happy childhood! I was born in Torrance, CA and we moved to the City of Orange, in Orange County when I was 3. My family loved boating and camping, so that's how we spent many weekends and vacations as you can guess my friends and I spent as much time as possible at the beach!
I married at 17 and had a daughter, Cindy, just before my 18th
birthday, and then at 20, I had a son, Jason. In 1975 we moved to Paradise not long after, the marriage fell apart and I became a single mother. I went to work at Bank of America, the wages barely sustained us at first, and it was tough as child support was not enforced at that time. But I moved up at the Bank and money got better. When my kids were 17 and 15 my ex husband took his own life, which was emotionally hard on them especially Jason! However, because we then got his SSI, we were able to live better. The 3 of us moved to Chico in 1990 after they both graduated from high school.
Then the bank decided to close the facility I was working in, fortunately my kids were grown and on their own.
