Dear Friends of Claremont Heritage!

We are excited to be experiencing a beautiful spring with you! The Tabebuia trees are blooming bright pink and the weather is perfect for al fresco dining!! People are out and about.... the Claremont Village is hopping and we are thrilled that things seem to be getting back to normal..

Speaking of our lovely City, we are fortunate that our founding fathers and mothers took great care to consider our landscapes and urban forest. April just happens to be Landscape Architecture Month and our monthly Muriel Faith O'Brien Speaker Series will be focused on the work of Ralph Cornell, whose imprint can be seen all over Claremont - Please register for the Webinar below, happening Thursday, April 22nd (Earth Day) at 7:00 pm

Join us for a webinar presented by Claremont Heritage
featuring noted Landscape Architect, Ralph Cornell.

Ralph Dalton Cornell (1890-1972) was a Pomona College alumnus who went on to become the College's most important landscape architect, pioneering the idea of Pomona as a “college in a garden” and serving in this position for more than 40 years after he began in 1919. A graduate of Harvard Graduate School of Design, he was said to have “done more to change the complexion of Southern California than any other person” through his many projects in landscape design, including UCLA, Torrey Pines Park in San Diego, the Los Angeles Music Center, La Brea Tar Pits, Beverly Gardens, Oak Park Cemetery, and multiple years of the National Orange Show in San Bernardino, California.

We are delighted to announce our Annual Awards Gala: Out of Many, One Community, live-streaming on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 7:00 pm. This year’s Gala commemorates our 45th year of “Keeping Claremont’s History Alive”. I want to personally invite you to join us for a celebratory evening honoring our many community groups and bestowing our annual Preservation and Cultural Heritage Awards.

This year’s awardees are:
2021 Bess Garner Preservation AwardClaremont Wildlands Conservancy
2021 Cultural Heritage AwardRichard Martinez, Artist, Teacher, Mentor

Please join us for a fun and exciting evening of entertainment including musical performances, trivia, a fabulous, treasure-filled online auction and highlights from Claremont’s history.

This is our main fundraising event for the year and we need your help! We are looking for event underwriters and donations for our online auction.

Your underwriting support will enhance your connection to the community, it will align you or your company with the values that Claremont Heritage fights to preserve! A community that is unique, beautiful, and a place to call home. Whether you live, work or play here, you know why Claremont is such a special place.

For the online auction we are seeking items such as:
Artwork by local artists - Karl Benjamin, Harrison McIntosh, Rupert Deese, Betty Davenport Ford, Paul Darrow to mention a few.
Gift Baskets - featuring Claremont businesses and restaurants - with gift certificates, etc.
Experiences - have a beach house or cabin that you would be willing to donate a weekend at? Tickets to sporting or cultural events - as things open up people will love to get out!

Without your help we could not produce the programs that reach over 5,000 community members every year, vital programs like:
  • monthly educational series,
  • exhibitions and musical events featuring local artists,
  • walking and driving tours,
  • 3rd grade local history program that has been offered to Claremont schools for over 30 years,
  • our popular annual home tour and more!

The importance and impact that your donations have on our community have not gone unnoticed! With COVID-19 impacting our ability to have in-person events, this Gala is more important than ever.

You are in a position to help keep it special! Please consider your donation an investment in the future of Claremont! You can make an impression in “Keeping Claremont’s History Alive” for future generations to enjoy as much as we do now!
We look forward to hearing from you!

PS - Please note the Friday, the April 30th deadline for Underwriting and the online auction! The Gala is coming fast, and we want YOU to be acknowledged properly.

Warm regards,
