Social medicine professor has new book out

The Johns Hopkins University Press has published  a new book by Jacqueline Wolf , Ph.D., Heritage College professor of social medicine. "Cesarean Section : An American History of Risk, Technology, and Consequence" chronicles the dramatic rise in the number of C-sections performed in the United States. This increase began around the middle of the 20th century, and by the early 21st century this operation had become the most commonly performed surgery in the country.

The book has already garnered some media attention (see In the News section, below).

Dr. Wolf is also the author of  Don't Kill Your Baby: Public Health and the Decline of Breastfeeding in the 19th and 20th Centuries, and  Deliver Me from Pain: Anesthesia and Birth in America.
