UPDATE! HEMPSTEAD COUNTY FAIR | | |
IMPORTANT NEW INFO REGARDING PREMIUM SALE:
- All 4-Hers showing livestock are eligible for the premium sale. We are requesting photos of the exhibitor PRIOR to the fair this year!
- This will streamline the process for creating the slideshow presentation that plays during the premium sale.
- Pointers for the photo: Please submit a high-quality digital image (phone camera is fine) of the exhibitor in show-style attire if possible.
- Candid photos are acceptable as long as clothing is conservative.
- Featuring a project animal with the exhibitor is preferred but not required.

Submit one photo per exhibitor to (870) 826-4133 -OR- krowe@uada.edu ASAP! The hard deadline is Aug. 29.
- FFA advisors are asking the same of their students.

Don't forget to submit the bio as well! These are read aloud as the exhibitor takes the stage.
- You can find a paper template in the fair book or on the website, fill that out and drop it by the Extension office prior to the premium sale

| | As you may have heard or seen, the Hope Tractor Supply Store at 1301 N. Hervey, Suite D, is opening soon! They have asked our 4-H members to join them on their big day, Saturday, Aug. 15th at 8 a.m., to hand out water and swag to guests. They are big supporters of national 4-H with campaigns such as the Paper Clover drive, raising millions of dollars for youth education, and their support will benefit us at the local level. If you'd like to participate in the grand opening, dress in your 4-H shirt and come on out. | | |

Aug. 20 - 4-H Fairgrounds Cleanup at 5:30 p.m. at Hope Fair Park

Aug. 20 - Deadline to enter arts & crafts, horticulture, etc. online

Aug. 29 - County fair pageant at the Coliseum, 5 p.m.

Aug 31 & Sept 1: Check-in for hort., arts & crafts, baked goods, etc. (see fair website or booklet for complete schedule.) Books are available at the Extension office.

Tuesday, Sept. 1 - Livestock check-in and weigh-in; Weigh-in for pen heifer show at 5 p.m. at Hope Livestock, all other animal check-in at 6 p.m./weigh-in at 7 p.m.; rabbits needing ear tattoos, come to swine barn at 4 p.m. Hempstead County Cattlemen's Association is feeding exhibitors and families!

Wednesday, Sept. 2 - Community Coffee at the Arts Building, 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Exhibitors, please attend! This event is being catered by the fair board so we will not need food, just exhibitors!

Thursday, Sept. 3 - Pen heifer show at 4 p.m.; Livestock shows begin at 5 p.m. with poultry, rabbits, cattle, goats, sheep (in arena), and swine (in swine barn).

Friday, Sept. 4 - Premium Sale Luncheon at 11:30 a.m.; come early to help set up, no dessert is needed this year, sale will start at 12 p.m.; check out when stall is clean.
