TWO IMPORTANT ALERTS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAY SAFETY AND MOTOR VEHICLES
Memo from the Department regarding License Plate and Decal Inventory
Dear EFS Agents,

This is a reminder from the Department you that you will soon be receiving end of year inventory reports from Tax Collectors in counties where you are an authorized EFS Agent. As an EFS Agent it is your responsibility to maintain proper security and control of license plate and decal inventory or other Tax Collector provided indicia (see Rule 15C-16.103(2)(i), Florida Administrative Code). As a result, you should respond to the Tax Collector(s) in a timely fashion. Failure to do so, may result in action by the Department.

Attached is Department Procedure BA-6 (Inventories and Year End Audit), which has been amended to describe the responsibilities of EFS Agents (see pages 4-8). Also attached is Department Procedure EFS-01 which describes procedures EFS Agents should follow for voiding transactions associated with inventory, and monitoring inventory.

Memo from the Department Advising of Fraudulent E-Mail
Dear Dealers, Installers, Manufacturers, Importers and Distributors,

This is to advise you that a phishing e-mail ( attached ) from this fraudulent e-mail address Flhsmv.Gov [ mailto:info@t4e.com.au ]  is being sent to dealers and manufacturers mis-using the Department’s name (The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles). Although the display name in this example is Flhsmv.gov, the sender’s address can be easily determined to not be from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Some phishing messages may not be as easy to spot, as the sender may attempt to obfuscate the sender’s email address. Hovering over the link without clicking it can typically reveal where the message has originated from.

Please disregard and delete any phishing e-mails from this fraudulent e-mail address Flhsmv.Gov [ mailto:info@t4e.com.au ] . If anyone has opened the message and clicked the link, it is highly advisable to change your email password as soon as possible.
