Fr. Bob Portrait
Greetings,

I wish to inform you that based on the recommendation of the recent Search Committee, I have appointed Father Gregory Gebbia, OFM, Principal of Christ the King Preparatory School.  Of all of the candidates considered for this position, he was the clear leader of all.  Obviously, his four years here as Dean of Student Affairs positioned him well to take this position vacated by the departure of Cynthia Bielskie.

Father Greg has recently completed his Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree at Seton Hall University.  This is a post-Master program in educational leadership.  The late Monsignor Kevin Hanbury said of Father Greg's work: "Your work is always outstanding."  Further, to validate objectively his performance, Father Greg took the Praxis exam and passed.  His reputation here at Christ the King combined with his excellent work at the University fit him well to take the school to the next level of academic achievement.

Let us continue to pray for the success of Christ the King Prep here in Newark and ask for the blessing of God upon Father Greg as he takes this new position.

Fr. Robert J. Sandoz, OFM
President

CtK Prep's New Principal . . . Fr. Gregory Gebbia, OFM
A Franciscan since 1977, and a priest since 1986, Fr. Greg came to Christ the King Prep in August, 2009.  Raised in the "windy city" of Chicago, Fr. Greg's innate gift for education came from his mother Bernadine, an educator in the Chicago Public School system, who taught for 54 years.

Fr. Greg holds a BA in History from Quincy University in  Illinois, an MDiv with concentration in Liturgy from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, and an MA in Theology from Fordham University in New York. His teaching certification in History and American Government is from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio.  He recently completed his EdS at Seton Hall University.  Just prior to coming to CtK, Fr. Greg studied at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice at the University of San Diego.

Fr. Greg taught at Padua Franciscan High School in Parma, OH and at Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, MA.  He has also served as parochial vicar and director of liturgy at several parishes in the tri-state area.  In addition, he has had ministerial experience in Mexico and Zimbabwe.

Coming from a Sicilian family, Fr. Greg's life has never been without passion. This passion serves him well as he leads our school community, engages our students and helps each to become young men and women of promise.
