The American Trucking Associations (ATA) has announced that the Supreme Court has issued a stay of the Biden Administration’s OSHA vaccine-or-test mandate for employers with 100 or more employees. This stay is a tremendous relief to the Maine Trucking Industry already experiencing a driver shortage that is impacting the supply chain. You can read the full ATA press announcement by clicking the link below.
NOTE: This announcement does not impact the impending CANADA/UNITED STATES vaccination requirement for foreign nationals entering the US and Canada, slated to begin January 15th for travel to Canada and January 22nd for travel to the United States. This requirement includes essential workers, including truck drivers.
MMTA members may have read elsewhere of a possible medical exemption from the vaccination requirement for US drivers going to Canada. MMTA cannot confirm the validity of the press information regarding a possible CDC medical exemption, and our research and information thus far indicates that US drivers who are not fully vaccinated will be prohibited from entering Canada beginning January 15, 2022, no exceptions.
MMTA will continue advocating for relief from the onerous prohibition imposed by the US and Canada and will keep our members updated on the latest information.
