Dear Friends of Habitat,

We are thrilled to announce that pre-construction site work has begun on our next set of homes! The new property near Nevada Union High School will accommodate four new houses for first-time home buyers.

Our selection committee is hard at work finalizing the short list of new homeowners through a rigorous selection process. The new homeowners are young families who dream of being part of a welcoming and supportive neighborhood and having a forever home - just like many of us did before we bought our first house.

Their dream is alive, but many others in our state are without hope. California has the 3rd lowest homeownership rate in the nation. It's fair to say affordable homeownership is 'under attack' in our state. Let's keep working together to make Nevada County one of the places that welcomes new homeownership. Together, we can encourage building safe, decent, and affordable housing and furthering the American dream.

Best Regards,

Lorraine Larson

Executive Director

WE DID IT...Street of Dreams Fundraising Goal Exceeded!

We’re incredibly excited to announce the 2024 Street of Dreams gala resulted in over $130,000 in funds raised. It was a beautiful night at the Vets Hall with 250 people attending. This was only possible because of the generosity and support of our sponsors, major donors, auction item contributors, attendees, and volunteers. Each of you played a vital part in this exciting outcome.

NCAR Rocks for a Cause: $5,000 raised!

We’d like to extend a huge “thank you” to the Nevada County Realtors Association Foundation for naming us this year’s recipient of their Battle of the Bands fundraiser.

Nevada County Realtors Association, (NCAR), is a local real estate organization which has been one of our dear supporters and Street of Dreams sponsors. Last month, the non-profit organized a benefit concert called Battle of the Bands at the Center For The Arts in Grass Valley.

The event was aimed at raising awareness and funds for Nevada County Habitat and local affordable housing. Eight bands competed against each other and band, Harmony Groove won with audience votes. The multi band concert brought together our local real estate, business, and music appreciator community, raising funds for NCHFH! We were honored to receive a check at Street of Dreams for $5,000 from the proceeds. A big thanks to NCRA for their continued support!
