Welcome Our New Board Chair
Dr. Delores Gibbs was among the first African American women accepted into the College of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina and was the first to obtain a degree in 1973.

Soon after, Gibbs joined the Peace Corps as a medical officer and etched her name in history again as the first Black woman to serve as chief of medical operations for the Peace Corps, 1980-84.

Dr. Gibbs also decided to start her own practice in her hometown of Moncks Corner. The center was called the Berkeley Medical Center, which she owned and operated for nearly 35 years before joining the Fetter Health Care Network.
