School classes and groups of youth join together between Martin Luther King Day and mid-March to plan and implement either a service-learning project or community youth service project.

The projects are registered as official Maine Semester of Youth Service activities, promoted across the state by the Maine Commission for Community Service, and are eligible to apply for $300 mini-grants to assist with supplies or transportation.

Classes and youth groups that complete their projects by March 20, 2015 will attend the new Maine Youth Volunteer Appreciation Night at the Portland Pirates' April 3rd game.

The evening is sponsored by Maine AmeriCorps Alums and the Maine Commission for Community Service in partnership with the Portland Pirates.

Finally, youth will present their projects' accomplishments to a statewide audience at a virtual Global Youth Service Day Celebration later in April.
