April 2020 Newsletter
Greetings!
Welcome to the monthly news. There are many ways for you to connect with God and with our neighbors at LCOC and beyond. You are invited to share this news with new neighbors and others who may be interested in hearing what God is doing through the people and ministry of LCOC.

GATHER  GROW  GIVE  GO
MESSAGE FROM PASTOR DARCY
These past few weeks have been exhausting and challenging as we navigate the creation of new ways to connect, to work, to care for one another, to be a family and to be the church. LCOC, along with all churches, has been thrust into the world of online worship. Thank you, dear people of LCOC, for being open to this way for worship, Bible study and prayer. My mantra has become “each day I am learning something new”. Thank you for your patience and suggestions which allow us to continue to improve these offerings.

I must admit that I am grieving the loss of the opportunity for us to worship together in person and especially during Holy Week. At the same time, I feel comfort and joy that while our worship experiences will be different this year, we will still worship together online to journey through Holy Week and we will still celebrate Easter Sunday.
Stay tuned for more details .

In new ways this year, I feel strengthened and encouraged by the Good News that Jesus rose from the dead! I am being reminded and shown how powerful this Good News is and how much the world needs to hear this at this time. For example, on a recent walk I met a family with two young children. When they learned that I was a pastor they asked if I would pray with them. The Mom shared how much she needed prayer that day for peace, comfort and wisdom. What a powerful gift it was to pray with them and to be the church in the world!

The Good News is that Jesus lived, died, rose and ascended into heaven for the world. How are you experiencing, living, and sharing this Good News at this time?

Let us boldly proclaim together...
Christ is Risen. He is Risen, indeed, Alleluia!

A pair of Bluebirds have come to our little backyard to build a nest in the box designed especially for them They visit the feeder of hulled sunflower seeds, as well as, dried meal worms while they take turns going in and out of the box. What a glorious reminder of God's beautiful creation and that He takes care of these lovely and vulnerable creatures, and that He will surely care for us now and always!

Sending love to you all and reminding you that you are in our thoughts and prayers while we are apart and always!

No matter what is going on in the world, Spring is moving forward! One of the first signs of this most welcome season is the Daffodil. These beauties are bursting forth in many of the gardens at LCOC, and even a sporadic bloomer can be seen in the nearby woods. The front beds at our church are showing off their glorious colors as they greet passersby. They are, however, sharing the stage with the fragrant, colorful, and very bold Hyacinths. These first flowers of Spring, in particular the Daffodil, is synonymous with  friendship, a new beginning and rebirth, eternal life, hope, inspiration, and endless love . As Lady Bird Johnson once said  "Where flowers bloom, so does Hope."
