Gallery Updates

Come in and meet Graeme Cooke. Graeme joined us last week and will be doing his best to welcome everyone to the gallery.

We also wish Katherine Fitzpatrick well, as she is now her father's full time care giver. He has been having serious falls and cannot be left for long.

We will certainly miss her. Choices are always difficult, but family comes first.

En Plein Air Painting with Marissa Sweet

This workshop will help you get a good understanding of what to expect when painting outdoors. This class is designed for those who want to stretch their learning curve, paint with the elements, and want to experience an impressionistic approach to their painting. Students will get a general sense of painting fast, make quick decisions and adjust to their environment.

The Art of Stained Glass with Rhonda Kennedy

Thursday May 11, 2023

6:00 – 8:30 pm

April showers bring May flowers! You can make your very own flower in this fun workshop. You’ll be introduced to the basics of glass art, using the traditional Tiffany-style of stained glass making. You’ll receive step-by-step instructions, learn how to copper foil and solder the glass pieces together.

Neurographic Art with Emoke Wilsom

May 12 – 26, 2023

Fridays, 6:00 – 9:00 pm

3 week session

Neurographic Art starts with simple, freeform lines. It is de-stressing, meditative, calming, intuitive. The creative moves from basic algorithmic steps to colouring, patterning and recognizable images. Results in a unique and personal piece of abstract art.

Linda Virio – Goldfinch in Encaustic Project

Join Linda as she teaches you step by step how to create this one of a kind Goldfinch, using the Encaustic technique. All Materials you need are offered in a $25 kit, that is to be paid directly to the Artist.

Book Club Returns

A Gift of Art’s Book Club is back!

A Gift of Art is offering a free book club that will be meeting alternating Wednesdays from 11:00 – 12:00 in our main studio starting September 14, 2022. All books are provided through the gallery. Please contact us at [email protected] or 905-987-2264 to register for your books.

Senior Speaker Series Free!

Join us! We’ll have coffee and tea on tap for a special Speakers Series for Seniors. Everything you need, including reference material, on topics of interest to seniors like aging in place, avoiding scams, wills and power-of-attorney, and more.

The Series runs in-studio and online Wednesdays from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, April 19 to June 28 at A Gift of Art, 187 King St. E. in Newcastle. All are welcome and there is no cost to attend but you must register by calling the Gallery at 905-987-2264.

Featured Artist of the Month, Erin Hallett

Erin Hallett is an acrylic artist whose studio, “Lakeside Art”, is based in the Port of Newcastle. Nature serves as her muse, particularly with respect to both subject and the use of colour in her work. She began experimenting with various techniques of acrylic painting as a form of therapy after health issues forced her to retire from a career in nursing. Living close to Lake Ontario has been truly motivational and has inspired her already creative spirit to find new avenues of expression.
