Help Heal the Massive Tornado Damage

A tornado outbreak Dec. 10-11 took the lives of at least 88 people across five states and caused damage and economic losses projected at $18 billion.

There were a total of 34 confirmed tornados across eight states in the weekend outbreak, seven of which were rated EF3 strength by the National Weather Service. One of the 34 confirmed tornados had an approximate 227-mile-long-path of destruction spanning four states, with 200 miles of destruction in Kentucky alone.

What’s the best way to help now? Send money. UCC Disaster Response and Recovery Minister Lesli Remaly said of Hurricane Ida, “For a storm this size, money makes good sense as we know long-term recovery and rebuilding will be necessary.” We wll recieve a special offering for recovery and disaster relief at Friday evening's Christmas Eve Service.

"Grab and Go" Tamales After the Christmas Eve Service

The RUCC tradition of a tamale dinner following the 5:30 p.m. Christmas Eve Service continues! "Grab and Go" tamales, servings of beans and rice, and a small dessert will be available following the service. You may collect your food as you leave the church, or use the "drive through." Masks are required during pick up. The food will be packed in a 3-section clamshell container. Beans, rice and tamales will need to be heated when you get them home. ENJOY!

In 2020, gifts to the Christmas Fund enabled:

Monthly pension supplementation for 276 retired clergy and lay employees ($1,180,187)
Health benefits supplementation for 89 retired clergy and lay employees ($274,008)
Emergency grants for 96 individuals and families ($214,649)
Christmas “Thank You” gift checks to 504 retired clergy and lay employees ($252,000)
