10 Years Ago, Gala Began
A decade of bringing our mission to life

Ten years ago, we started work on our first Legacy Gala with the idea that it would be a great way to bring our mission to life in front of friends, family, local businesses, and community supporters. Now celebrating our 10th year of Gala, we invite you to join us once again, to help create a beautiful night that will ensure our students and adults can continue to learn, gain independence, and reach for their goals.

Halo Award
Our Halo Award honors community members who embody the spirit of our mission and who work to ensure our legacy.

The evening will be highlighted by our Halo Award presentation in which Sal & Nanette Cutrona will be honored for their continued and tireless dedication to John Paul II Center.

Peggy's Legacy of Faith Award
As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we will present the inaugural Peggy’s Legacy of Faith Award to Mary Maher who has tirelessly given her time and talents to further our mission. This award is dedicated to the memory of Peggy Horrigan who always kept John Paul II Center close to her heart.

Meeting Senator Schwank

It was recently discovered that we had a tear in our American flag that our Adult Program so faithfully raises and lowers each sunny day. So when Senator Judy Schwank heard about this, she offered to replace it for us. Thank you Senator Schwank for the kind gesture!

Proximity Switch Bowling
Speech and Occupational Therapy helping students adapt

Our Speech and Occupational Therapists set up a clever system to help Jeremy to bowl! Attached to the blow dryer on the table is a proximity switch on Jeremy's wheelchair (the yellow box by his left cheek) that turns on the blow dryer when he turns his head. Look at his smile! 😁
Glass Art
Turning 2D art into 3D art
Gala preparations continue. Recently we visited GoggleWorks Center for the Arts and their glass blowing studio to bring Orlando's Angelfish drawing into the 3D world. The final glass piece will be auctioned off at our 10th Annual Legacy Gala on April 25.

This event was made possible by VA Productions, Inc. and Berks Community Health Center - Thank you!
