Special Village E-News:
COVID-19 Vaccination Resources & Updates
The Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) has launched its community vaccination program website – vaccine.cookcountyil.gov. This website allows those who live and work in Cook County to sign up for COVID-19 vaccine updates and information and to schedule appointments when you are eligible for the vaccine; currently residents/workers in Phase 1a and Phase 1b are eligible. Vaccine supply is extremely limited at this point – please be patient and stay tuned for more updates.

Residents and workers can sign up to receive:
  • Updates on the Vaccine and the Community Vaccination Program
  • Notification for when vaccine administration is open to your phase
  • Information on scheduling a vaccine appointment through Cook County Health
  • Information on vaccine distribution locations throughout Cook County

CCDPH’s community vaccination program call center is also now open:
  • Call 1-833-308-1988
  • Open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

If you have already filled out a CCDPH vaccine survey, you should still sign up through the new website.
State Enters Phase 1B of Vaccination Plan

Illinois has moved into the early stages of Phase 1B of COVID-19 vaccine administration as of today. This transition expands vaccination availability to frontline essential workers and those ages 65+.
COVID-19 Vaccination Q&A

The Village has compiled information on vaccine distribution on our website. Here are some key topics related to distribution and Phase 1B:

How is the vaccine being distributed across Illinois and Cook County?
The State of Illinois developed its vaccination distribution plan based upon guidance and recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). The ACIP recommended priority groups based upon risk of exposure, morbidity, and mortality. Click here for the State’s Vaccination Plan.

The distribution of COVID-19 vaccination by CCDPH will be done in a phased approach as vaccine supply is available and using guidance from local, state and national public health authorities. Since the initial supplies of vaccine is limited, populations have been prioritized for receiving the vaccine. Click here for a presentation from CCDPH on their Vaccination Plan.
CCDPH is distributing vaccine to a total of 91 sites including Cook County Health centers, large capacity sites around the county, 40 Walgreens locations, other pharmacies and county hospitals. As more vaccine is distributed by the federal government, several thousand vaccination providers will be available, including but not limited to doctors’ offices, retail pharmacies, hospitals, and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), across the state.

What is the Village’s role in the vaccination distribution?
While the Village does not have direct access to vaccinations for our community, the Village has and will continue to advocate as hard as we can on behalf of Wilmette residents to expedite the vaccination roll-out in suburban Cook County. The Village is committed to using all of its financial and personnel resources to accelerate the roll-out of the vaccine to our residents. To that end, Wilmette in partnership with the Villages of Winnetka, Northfield and Lincolnwood sent a letter to Cook County Department of Public Health earlier this month proposing to utilize our Certified Paramedics to administer vaccinations to Cook County residents. We have outstanding resources and personnel in our local Fire Departments and are working proactively with Cook County to leverage this asset.
Residents Urged to Be Alert for COVID-19 Vaccine Scams

As the COVID-19 vaccine becomes available, residents are cautioned to be alert for scams and theft of personally-identifiable information.

  • Do not buy any kind of COVID-19 vaccine or treatment on the internet or from an online pharmacy.
  • Ignore online, phone, and text offers for the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Hang up on any calls, including robocalls, which direct you to take immediate action or provide personally-identifiable information, such as your Social Security number or bank account number.
  • Report solicitations from telemarketers, text messages and social media platforms, as well as door-to-door visits. You can file a consumer complaint with the Illinois Attorney General’s office.
  • Delete emails and texts that promise or offer access to COVID-19 treatments, and do not click on any links contained in such emails as they may place malware on your devices.
