SNAP recipients across the Rocky Mountain Synod states of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming and Texas will be directly impacted by the absence of these benefits. They include:


  • 600,000 Coloradans
  • 460,000 in New Mexico
  • 86,000 in Utah
  • 29,000 in Wyoming
  • 3.5 million Texans
  • including 1.7 million children who depend on these benefits every month.

Today, I ask you to answer God’s call to love and serve our neighbors who are affected by this crisis.

Saron Lutheran Church's Little Free Pantry


In a small country town of Strasburg, Colorado, it was learned that the food pantry had closed and then that the nearby Town of Bennett’s food pantry also closed. It was time. Time to find a way our small church, Saron Lutheran, in Strasburg, could meet some of the needs of neighbors for food. The call to action found its solution in building and maintaining a Little Free Pantry. Jackie Lanning got approval from the church Council and her family got busy.

St. Matthew's Lutheran Church's Little Free Pantry

It’s better to give than to receive… so goes an old saying.

But both things are happening in Taylorsville with the opening of a brand new pantry at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.

The church received a handmade donation of a brand new pantry this month, and people have been stocking it with food ever since.
