The day we long awaited has now arrived. The search is complete. The uncertainty over. Crossroads is now blessed with the arrival of Rev. Susan Systma Bratt, the Senior Pastor and Head of Staff who will lead us into a bright new future. A future that builds on all we have accomplished in the past, recognizing and honoring all the Crossroads leaders who served us faithfully before Pastor Susan’s arrival.
This past weekend was Susan’s formal introduction to the congregation. She met with our Elders and Deacons on Saturday and expressed her excitement to work with them this coming fall. At the "Opening Night" Dessert, she shared some of her life story – growing up in Holland, Michigan, active in school as a Dutch dancer and a member of the show choir and theater group; met her husband Peter at Calvin College; now a devoted mom to Emma and John; loves to sing and enjoys Broadway musicals. On Sunday, Susan led worship and preached from Psalm 139:1-14 on Known: Cradle of Grace. After worship, the congregation voted her in as our new Senior Pastor and Head of Staff. She and her family will be moving here later this summer. Her first day in the pulpit will be September 15.
Through the search process, the PNC felt the pull of the Holy Spirit leading us to Susan. We are thankful for the love and faithfulness God has shown to Crossroads throughout our history, and we praise God for the promise of a bright new chapter for Crossroads.
