2024 Governor's Hurricane Conference General Session
(Pictured here L-R) PBC Mayor Maria Sachs and WPTV News Channel 5 Chief Meteorologist Steve Weagle at the General Session of the 2024 Governor's Hurricane Conference.
In addition to the general attendees and various weather experts from across the region, Mayor Sachs also had the privilege of addressing her fellow Commissioners and other PBC officials.
Mayor Sachs addressing over 2,000 catastrophe professionals, meteorologists, first responders and key county state and federal leaders and officials who all eagerly gathered to learn about, collaborate on and prepare for a 2024 hurricane season that experts are expecting to be one of the most active on record.
The insights gained from this conference were essential as we prepare for what may be an intense hurricane season ahead. With forecasts calling for an unusually high number of storms, ensuring that our community is ready is more important than ever. So then, I am staunchly dedicated to incorporating the lessons learned and the latest information presented at the 2024 Governor's Hurricane Conference into our county's hurricane preparedness and response strategies. I will work diligently to protect and support our residents through any weather-related challenges that may soon come our way.
