Peer Support

Reflect, Celebrate, Continue

As we wrap up Global Peer Support celebrations, we reflect on how peer support strengthens connection, recovery, and hope across North Carolina. This week, we heard from staff with lived experience, celebrated mental health and substance use recovery, and highlighted the many creative ways Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) support their communities.

We were reminded that peer support looks different for everyone. Through shared lived experience, community connection, and personal passions, CPSS workers help people feel understood, supported, and empowered. Thank you to everyone who joined our 2 Colors 1 Purpose event—the purple and green looked incredible, and we are grateful to all those who participated.

Today, we also honor Peer-Run Organizations for meeting community needs in innovative ways. Their programs continue to foster connection and support. We invite you to watch a short, prerecorded video featuring Daeqwon Currie, Kendall Stone, and Jennifer Johnson as they share more about this important work.
